lo all, thought id come over to the gardening forum to get some advice to start some work on my garden. after i have finished growing my weed plants i will clean up the whole garden.

i cut the grass yesterday and i noticed that its got patches of crab grass? and down the middle it has worn out. is the best thing to do just toss aload of grass seeds down on patches?

also, is there a specific way to cut grass? ive seen nice lawns been cut in patterns and shapes. how do i get that effect?

any other info is great, although im not starting any flower beds or anything yet. just trying to get it tidy 1st.

thanks

try a product, when your fall comes around, that we call in the states weed and feed. it specifically controls crabgrass with a particularly safe herbicide and gives your lawn a shot of feed to give it a fighting chance. to get those fancy rows takes time, mow your lawn in one direction and then the opposite direction the second time around, on the third time go back to the same direction as the first. keep repeating and you will get the look you are looking for after a few times around

People use what are called striper the ecentuate the pattern you mow it in. I think they are just a small steel roller that bends the grass over giving that ball park look.
