leaf drying/dieing

i have 5 plants about 10 inches high that i just got from a friend and i have them in my closet with a 400 watt bulb shining on them with the vortex and the hole nine yards, temps are going up to 83 so a friend suggested to do 18 day 6 night! one leaf is drying up and curling up on my one plant and im scared that its going to get worse and worse!!! this is my second grow and my first grow ended with all my plants dieing at seedling stag! my friend thinks i should down grad to 250 but dont have funds for that at the moment! Is it really bad when a leaf drys up like that? its a big leaf near the top

If your temperature isn't going above 83 as you said then I wouldn't worry about anything unless it spreads. Sometimes a fan leaf will die off for random reasons.

thanks for the input BUT what if it does spread? what are some actions i can take? should i cut a big hole in bottom of my door for more air flow? i have a fan blowing across in closet and i have a 4 inch vortex fan attached to my air cooled reflector

It's not likely to spread as it is probably the plant just adjusting to the new environment. Some leaves may die but they will be replaced by vegitation that can handle your conditions.

Cannabis is a very hardy, tolerant plant ... don't panic.

The rest of my plants are doing great BUT the one plant has a very dry leaf and another leaf is starting to dry but ALL leafs have brown dots all over them like urlie stages of drying!? What to do? I can post pics if needed

At first I thought nutrient toxicity then I read your ppms at 150.

You're probably phosphate deficient, maybe potassium and magnesium deficient also.

150ppms is extremely low.

a friend told me to start there and bump it up 25 every couple feedings...... as in 125,175,200,225,etc, only one plant is showing sighns of distress! brown spots on leafs like urlie sighns of drying out! heres some pics079.jpg075.jpg076.jpg

Mas Magnesium for sure.

Almost looks like a serious pH issue. How are you testing your soil pH? Have you calibrated your meter lately?

every friday but why arrent the others doing this? what should i do differently next feeding?

i kinda dont test my soil ph, how do i do that? what i do is i mix nutes in water then check ppm then i make sure ph is at 6.3 then i water plants til pots get heavy but no water runs out the bottom? should i keep watering til i get run off? then check run off?

Flush it, the salts can build up without run off and skew the pH of the media. Testing your soil is basically done by making a dirt slurry with filtered water and testing that with a meter.

A good flush won't hurt anything, gets you back to stage one and then you can add a very mild amount of food.

This one plant probably just doesn't need that much food. Dial it back a bit (add some water to the solution before feeding her) and make sure you are getting a good 20% run off.

So to flush I just add lots of water til it comes pooring out the bottom currect? Then ph test the water that came out the bottom? And what should the ph meter say?

Just curious how far away from the tops you have the light? If it's closer than 2' you may be getting some burn stress.
Concerning watering, I soak mine, base and all, until entire soil is saturated. I then let it dry almost completely (you see the leaves slightly wilt) and re-water with nutrients. Those look to me like they could handle 250ppm no problem. What kind of nutrients are you using to supplement soil if any?

I so wish I could give out -rep.

2 feet? Really homie?

Let us discuss why 24 inches is too far to keep a 400w bulb from a plant.

A 400w bulb provides - at best - 45,000 lumens at 6.8 inches from the center of the bulb. Most 400w bulbs, with just a few hundred hours of use, are usually around 40,000 lumens. Every 6.78 inches from the bulb you take a square of the value of the distance. If 6.78 is One, then 13.56 is Two, 20.34 inches is Three and 27.12 inches is Four.

So at One: 40,000/(1x1)=40,000
At Two: 40,000/(2x2)=10,000
At Three: 40,000/(3x3)=4444.44
At Four: 40,000/(4x4)=2500

Beneath 2500 lumens Photosynthetic action basically grinds to a halt. So the top of the plant might get just barely enough light, but an 18 inch plant means that halfway down the plant you're looking at less than 1,500 lumens; less than 1/25th of the energy.

A 400w bulb is best kept within 24 inches from the bottommost part of the plant you are trying to develop. An 18 inch plant would benefit from having the bulb within 14 inches of the canopy top. If the bulb can be air cooled, the closer the better.

Useing sensi grow And my light is 10 inches away from tops. When I got these plants my friend had them at 150 ppm so I'm pretty much going what he said and taking from there! When he brought me them the one plant looked very healthy but now it doesn't? Maybey it's just mother nature taking it's course because like I said all the other ones are doing fine but it's gunna suck if it spreads to the others!! Hey how many inches would you guys start the flower? I was told to start when there 16-18 inches because of my limited space in my closet! I will provide full picture of closet soon
