Could that be from spraying foliar spray when lights are on 24/0 with t5 24 watt ???? ............. Yup fixed air stone problem and cut away root that was brown and about 6 inches long, cut all roots that were visible from grow plug is that ok ??

It could be burn from spraying, never spray with lights on. I am have never done hydro only soil so I will help out as much as I can. What is your water Ph, temp, nute line up and PPM of the water with nutes? You need to have a crap ton of bubbles going in the water under the roots you almost cant have too much bubbles. If that is tin foil get rid of it it is not a good reflective material, traps heat and makes hot spots.
