Ok to fill ya in......Got given some seeds by Rasta friend and told to plant them when I feel it's right, these seeds had a nice pedigree.....But better mention though, we are talking between 20-30yrs ago, but as my friend was touring with Burning Spear at the time, and got to stay with them in Jamaica, he gave me a few seeds...I wrapped in tin foil and decided to wait till I had my own home to try and grow them outside in front of a south facing wall, which my rasta mate had done beautifully, and i'd seen photo's and when ready I tasted the weed which was mighty fine to say it was grown here, outdoors, years and years before hydro and gro-lights or even sensimilla was on scene.
Over the yrs I added odd seeds the bag got changed few times etc etc probably lost quite a few but decided to just plant and see what happened.
Only 4 seeds out of around around 15 germinated, two look like pure sativa's to me, one of these I gave a friend, so i've kept one Sativa = Long thin fingers, out of them all was fastest grower.(And i'm thinking if any of the Jamaican seed survived then thse 2 sativa's are probably them).But it's just a guess. Now I got them up to two and half three foot quite easily just putting them in Sun in day and under a small 50W Halogen at night.
Now the other 2 plants were quite different, these seeds must have been a much later addition, one of these I call Miss Stinky because she smells so bloody NICE !
I've grown many plants up to but not beyong flowering previously, but never has one smelled of anything except green plant matter, this one when left in my room in sun with widow shut smells beautiful......Was happy with this smell, this was my favourite......
Basically i've used these as test subjects, so i've learnt to clone, learnt about Hermaphrodites and how to spot them.
At this point I am thinking yes I would maybe like to do this in a small way just for myself, i'd been learning about autoflowering and stealth and sea of green but having only little cash available I bought I 12" CFL 2700K just so I could take my motley crew through to flower, maybe learn something....By the time they are almost done I will be able to buy proper seed stock
As I started reading and learning more it seemed quite obvious to me that i'd be bloody lucky if any of the 3 I have left produced any nice bud.........At this point I realized I may have problems with Hermaphrodites.....I found (sorry for being crude) a bollock on one of my girls (I'd been amazed it hadn't shown up earlier or on them all) but so far as I can tell its just one thats the Hermaphrodite.
So I have 1xSativa type plant, long gangly, but going into flower now on 12/12
I have a super smelly (smells like lemon skunk to me as I have had whiffs if both an old kind of skunk smell, but also a lemony smell if stalk is lightly rubbed. - But i very much doubt it is Lemon Skunk cos most these seeds I had ages, but may have got in there)
My last plant looks very nice, all 3 have been topped, this made the sativa even more straggly, the smelly one loks like its maybe a sativa/indica cross - broad dark leaves....The last one, which has always been the runt of the pack is (as far as I can tell) 100% female. Looks neat compact and sturdy, this has darkest green leaves of all 3 and i'd guess at another mix but more Indica.....Looks like I suspect they all should look......So with this being so nice, i'm going to take cuttings from this one just in case its nice when finished.
So 1xSativa 1xSmelly mix and a lovely looking Mix, probably Indica mostly. but all this is a guess......
I have been leaving my Herm in flowering room as the pods were so immature when I found them, that was 3 days ago and 1 has grown back now, so to be on safe side i've pulled from room and i'll try just finish it off in sunlight if I can, in a seperate room from others...But what i'd like to ask is.....If I leave it out and it stops getting its 12 on12off will it revert to Veg =- or get confused and try finish buds or ??? any ideas......it's such a pungent one i'd love to get it to bud if poss......
Any ideas/suggestions will be gratefully recieved.....
