Leaving Hempy Bucket SOG while on vacation...

Hi all!

I'm leaving on vacation next month for about 7 days and am wondering how any of you have handled this.

I'd prefer not spending a lot adding pumps for auto watering as I'm already sketched leaving lights and fans on unattended with animals locked in the next room (talking fire here).

Do you guys think those water globes would work or do they only work in soil? I've also thought of adding an extra hole or two the same height as the main drain hole and putting my plants in tubs of nutrient solution so they can just take it up from the bottom.

Any other suggestions appreciated! I've never had to leave my Hempys alone before and they will be a week or so from harvest when I return so it's crucial they get water. I have them in 22 oz cups as it's SOG just FYI.

Thanks for any and all input!

Don't know about those globes, but I think the 'water-saving' crystals that Miracle Gro sells do a good job of storing extra water. Give 'em a good soaking right before you leave and keep your fingers crossed. Also, you might want to cut them back just a tad or get rid of any big leaves that are already starting to fade and dry out. Less foliage is supposed to mean less demand for water.

water globs are gone the same day you put it in. using little 22oz cups? you could get some hospital, fish tank, like tubing and and set up a 5 gal bucket and let it drip. you can even get a flow regulator for a couple bucks. hand adjusted. think like an adjustable drip they use in hospitals. just a drip should keep enough water easily. it would be dripping 24/7 so make sure it is on a slowwww drip. good luck and enjoy your vacation!

i would hold off of cutting good leaves.. they have water in them and if they are gone, they cannot give the water or nutes, to the plant.

Thanks guys! I've though about using the crystals but not sure if I'd be able to bury them far in with so much root mass.

Not sure I can trim many leaves, I'm doing SOG so there's only a few fans anyway, might lollipop the bottom growth though which could help.

The drip idea sounds interesting as well,

Thanks for both of your guys' input!
