Buy a couple of 48" T5's 30$ each, you can dasey chain them up to 8 and they are 2 prong plug, T12's are old news, LEDS vote still out on them.

Peace

leds are great but not for what you want. i think your asknig if the little led lights that go in a socket you get at walmart will work for growing. im going to say that they most likly will not. get cfls for what you want. i have a 600 watt led i am getting good results from but the light pen on a led alone isent that great. aka, lower branches dont get much light

LEDs are just too expensive to use as "supplemental" lighting on a single plant. In order to get the extra light needed, you would probably have to grab a 90w fixture or greater. That will run you at least $130. Also, LED coverage area is very limited. LEDs are great from straight down with CFLs used to illuminate the undergrowth.

If you wanted, you could grab a 90w UFO and angle it in from the top/side and angle your other main light in from the other top/side. That will get you extra light lower on the plant on both sides, but still covers the top nicely. CFLs are still cheaper though.
