LED or not LED that is the question

I read that people have had good rsults using LEDs i want to try and use them with the combination of Sunlight. There is a lot of red light in there light spectrum so i've been told. I'm gonna start flowering real soon I got a natural thai plant that is has sun and fluorescent light. Its on my window ledge with the window open.

Does anyone think it will produce good buds under these conditions or shall i just stop trying to be a cheapskate and go but a HPS lights.

The thai is an outdoor weed and was a good smoke. I got the seeds from a bag of weed i got.

I haven't seen anything that conclusively states that LED's are superior. If for you, the choice is either LED's or a HPS, I would recommend the HPS.

hps it is then ty johnny its 19 inches long now gonna get the hps today my plant is gonna have a 24 hr sleep now.

HPS is coming tomorrow my baby is sleeping bought a big black plastic bin and covered it over my plant. Is it best to give the plant 24 hrs of darkness before giving putting it on 12/12.

I got two LED lights and will use these as well as the HPS. I'm gonna position the LEDS on the lower part of the plant with the HPS directly above the plant. When the buds start formiing i will focus the LEDs light on the Buds. Just to give it an extra boost of light.

Some say it is best to give them 24 hours of uninterrupted darkness before going 12/12. Supposedly, it does something to the hormones of the plant to get it to flower quicker. Did you make sure the bin you have is totally light proof? I mean no light leaking through at all. Otherwise, you will stress the plant and could cause it to hermie, or even go back into the vegetative state.

Yeah its completely dark and its in my wardrobe which is also dark but tiny amounts of light get through why i bought the bin made out of this thick black plastic no light getting through there. I had to buy a big one as my plant is 20 inches tall now. I might have to buy another cut out the bottom and stick it on top as i know it will exceed the bin. So will my mainly sativia plant double in size when flowering if it does it will be a 40 inch monster.

Got some jamaican dark weed almost black in colour at the mo for a change it hits the front side of ur brain makes u more active but its strong so u can feel it. The taste has a chocolatey flavour with a sour finish. Smells like that good old time weed. As its compressed it maybe hard for me to find a seed not damaged but if i do I will germinate it.

With a sativa, it's possible it could even triple in height before it's done, just to forewarn you You could be looking at a 6foot plus plant

Wow I'm lucky coz i got 6 foot height space in my wardrobe. I will keep taking pics looks like its defo gonna be a monster. My baby had a sleep for 24 hrs and I just put it under the lights. The top leaves have gone yellowy just the new forming leaves is this normal. And the plant seems a bit bent at the top i will take some pics of it in a bit. Its had 50 mins of light so i bet go and check and see how its doing.

Thats most likely from the lack of light for 24 hours, they havent been able to produce chlorophyll because they haven't been allowed to photosynthesize.

24 hours is better to go with for lighting, the reason for this is that when the leaves receive light, the photosynthesize and the plant grows, so technically if you go on 18/6 you are losing 25% of your growth.

I got the plant under a 240 watt hps light, Sunlight, a 100w daylight bulb, LED strip lamp and a LED spot light. The LED has a lot of red light in its spectrum thought I'd give it a go, some extra light cant be that bad. I left out the cool fluorescent coz hopefully i will need it as I will have some seeds germinating soon heheheheehehe.

Just make sure your HPS isn't too close to the plant, or it will burn. You want it as close as you can get it, so place your hand just above the top of your plant, and adjust the height of the light so that it doesn't feel uncomfortable to you. You will have to adjust at least once a day for the next 2-3 weeks, as the plant will really start to grow in response to the 12/12.

The Ph for my soil is around 7.2-7.5 shall i try and lower this or should I just leave the soil as it is. I don't know what's best for the plant. If u know whats best please let me know.

The colour has come back on the top growing leaves and its growing towards the light seems like its on the mend. I've left it all up to the lights I'm gonna foliar feed it this evening.

How long will it take before I will be able to determine it's sex roughly?

A week to two weeks at the most to sex. Can't help you much on the soil PH, as I'm a hydro man. Make sure you foliar feed right before the lights go off or you will burn you plant.
