LED power and node distance.

So right now im using a 300w LED. Starter light, got it off ebay for a steal. $71. Anyway, i have had the light about a foot away from the plants and i have noticed the nodes are really close, which is good, but it seems to be not growing up very much, just out. I just moved the light another 7 inches or so away. Will i start seeing more upwards growth or is 300w powerful enough to keep nodes down at that height? Should i go higher?

I want to achieve about 1 1/2 feet by feb 1st and they are about 3 inches out of the pot, 6 inches total.

It just depends on the light and the spectrum used. Can you post some more details about it?

Yes move the light furthet away and the plant will have to reach (vertical grow) to get all that light that it wants.

Yeah man, I would put them farther away, I have some plants that have grown like 2 inches from the light and it isn't good for the plant at all because it blocks the spectrum from blending. I don't know if im making sense but here is my example for you ( The one that is growing into the light has thick white hairs growing at the tip like way more crazy than any of the other buds but the rest of the plant isn't catching up to the top. I think that if I put it farther away the plant will be more rounded instead of just focusing on that one cola)
