LED UFO light WITH HID lights AND CFLs

Hello all,
I am on my second crop and i am growing in both hydro and in soil (hopefully transplanting to 100% hydro sooon.) I currently have 2 150w HPS lights, and 2 (dual spectrum) CFL's at 6500k lumens each (one blueish, one reddish). I have seen many benefits from ordering UFO lights and many problems, however i have not been able to find results with using both HID and LED lights together in a single set-up, let alone a triple light system. I found a UFO by Crystal King online. Its from canada, not china, and 90w so i figured i'd order it. Anyone who has any experience, thoughts or recommendations for me with my ufo, please let me know. Again, i would like to try CFL/LED/HPS all together in one grow room.
Let me know :leaf:

Why not just invest your money into what is proven to have the best results (HID)???LED's have already been proven to be inferior to hid.
Just wondering if there is a specific reason why you want to try all those instead of HID alone.Just seems like a waste of money, not trying to be negative bro just wondering why??

if one cfl is redish and the other is blueish then they both arent the same spectrum, the blue one is the 6500k and the red one is probably like 2700k or somewhere around there. on the led note, the ufo should be a decent investment. from what i have heard and seen here on riu their one of the best premade led you can buy right now.
also heres where i tell you in a non dickheaded way that led lights currently will cost you alot more than hid even in the long run. eventually led will be good for growing but not quite yet. if you wanna increase your yield withought making the jump up to the 600+ watters just take about a third of the money you were going to spend on the ufo and get another 150 and play around a bit, ive seen some of the sweet plants people grow with the 150w hps lights by stickin them in cooltubes and shit.
oh and use the other couple hundred bucks you saved by getting the hps and buy yourself a fat sack to smoke on while your plants grow.

Thanks for your replies. The reason i invested in the Crystal King UFO is because I have been running into the same issues with my grow, and it seems like the best solution.
My basic problems are:
Heat - I have 3 fans but in summer the HID (HPS) lights are way too hot so i lost a few little ones and had to use only 1 150w light vs. 2.
Room/Space - Getting another MH/HPS light would not fit. (small closet grow)
Spectrum - only one of my cfl lights have blue spectrum so I needed blue and red.

It seems that with the UFO all issues have good solution
Heat- 3 built-in fans (no heat given off more or less)
Room/space- small unit
Spectrum- LED has both red and blue spectrums
Electricity bill- 90w vs. many more

In searching online it seems like the UFO is not good on its own with the current technology, but I still have not seen any posted results mixing them with HID's AND CFL's. I have heard that LEDs with CFL's are much much more efficient. I should recieve it next week so lets hope for the best!!! :)

Have you looked into air cooled hoods or cool tubes for hid???They hook
up to inline fans and draw the heat from the light and exhaust outside or where ever you exhaust.

I have looked into those, but decided to try the UFO, i got it yesterday, and its HUGE. I expected it to be a very small ufo but its pretty large. And extremely bright. No heat. Runs cool, even the lights are cool to the touch. I cant wait to see the results.

Try convincing NASA that LED’s are inferior. NASA has had tremendous success growing using LED’s and only LED’s both here on earth and also in space.

The main problems with LED’s are many are inferior products, because of the expense growers tend to pick the less expensive ones which guarantees an inferior LED and also because of the price most growers will purchase to few of them and also most growers do not know how to use them to their utmost potential.

Several years back on a now defunct herb growing site I followed a grow thread of someone who grew strictly using LED’s. He claimed he had come into a sizable amount of money and decided to switch from HID to LED lighting. He purchased the best LED’s he could find and he purchased a large quantity of them.

He had large LED light panels above his plants and he ringed his plants by attaching LED light bars to what I call portable posts, 4X4’s with a square plywood bottom. He also added more portable posts with LED’s attached to all four sides of the 4X4’s and placed then in between his plants.

His plants were the thickest bushiest most lush plants I have ever seen in an indoor grow. His bud production was amazing. It was very thick and heavy from top to bottom and the buds were all thick and heavy and dense, not fluffy and there were no popcorn buds.

Not counting his initial outlay he was money ahead in that there was almost no heat, even with so many LED’s, so he did not need ventilation as in exhausting outdoors and only ran a carbon filter that circulated the air removing the odor.

His electricity bills dropped way down compared to what he was paying when running his HID lighting and running his exhaust system.

He was even able to up the temperature of his A/C, that in the past he had to keep lower to help cool his grow room, without his grow room temperatures rising so he saved additional electricity costs there.

If someone has the money, picks the highest grade LED’s in a sufficient quantity and uses them to their maximum potential they cannot be beaten by any other form of lighting.

The problem is almost no growers do that and most that do use LED’s to some degree or another find themselves disappointed and then blame the LED’s rather than blaming their inability to purchase the quality LED’s that are needed in the quantity they are needed in and their lack of expertise in how to best use LED’s to their maximum potential.

Because of that for the overwhelming majority of growers the very best option available today is still HID lighting.

Yeah most of us don't have nasa money,HID will do us fine on earth until good LED's become cheaper.:-P

Ok. so. to answer one of the previous questions. Yes Leds should be much closer to the plants, thus the (advantage) or whatever. Anyways, no one has really answered my most important question, which by the way, i have not found an answer to thus far online. Everyone is debating which is better, LED vs HID. But no one has looked at it as HID + LED (Booster Light). What do you think of having full spectrum of HPS + the added boost of the Red and Blues of the UFO. Using them together. Thats my question.

good question.....i am looking into the led lighting units and i am sceared i wont get what i get out of the 1000wat hps..or the mh..so how do we make sure we r useing then to the max???

I would just wait till leds are cheaper...I am for more effecient lighting but units that are close to hid are way too expensive at the moment

:sleep:I am currently running 2 90 w Led's and a 200 w cfl in my 4X4 grow tent and my giirls love the environment... more to post at harvest time...

u know i def dont think its going to hinder the grow, the more light the better honestly(im not debating which is better merely commenting on the setup he already has). You will for sure wont be disappointed from the yield. Ive never really heard of it before so I cant tell you if theres going to be an amazing result but itll def be more than with just the one led.

i am getting a ufo g3 and some smaller ones. like you heats an issue(and sometimes clearing out the heat from a 400w hps setup is easier said than done when in a small space and not wanting to spend the cash for all out grow room), small room for the plants, and electricity. I think for a small setup if u have the money(ive found quite a few ufos for a little less that the sunsystem 400w systems) leds can have quite a few advantages.
u could also conduct an experiment to see which works better.(or u can just hav all the lights together and get some huge buds!!)
either way best of luck to ya

Because of virtually no heat to damage your girls, you can and should go alot closer to your plants with the light. Im building a small "econo grow" room and am just about ready. I already own a 90W LED as well as a cfl set up and plan to go LED only for a trial run. From the looks of this light inside the cab, it should be much more than adequate. If not, Its back to the basics!

Better be a "FAT sack!" LOL! ... 150 watts, cmon now...

The brother needs at least 400 watts to make it worthwhile.
