Are these shit? @ 474 true watts they're probably shit. Can't find any info on this company.

Better off with two 1000ws? A single 1000w set up is costing me 300 (Ballast, bulb, air cooled hood, Apollo timer) so I want to budget about 600 for two lights. Looking for anything comparable in the LED department for a 4x8x7 area. I run RDWC, worried about the temps switching to two 1000ws and LEDs run cooler but I can't see myself dropping a grand for a light man.
Also would like to save on electricity.

Any suggestions?

Thanks mayne.

I figured.

I also have a 4x4 flower tent that I was going to stick a T5 8 bulb in. Might as well keep the LEDs out of that too, right?

Your polling options are.
Yes they are shit, yes they are shit, and yes they are shit stick w/ 1000s.

And guess what? Yes those lights are shit. You would be very disappointed replacing 2 1000w hps with those particular LEDs.

Budget $600-700 in parts to create a diy cob fixture that will replace each 1000 hid. And significantly more for a ready made fixture. Either way, it's going to be more than the $600 you mentioned to achieve similar results.

I did a lot of research before asking, just figured I'd actually start a thread. The true watts are less then 50%, which means the whole thing is probably shit and they don't want to push it lol. Trying to get me through that first month so I can't claim a warranty I bet.

I'll switch over to LEDs when it's a bit more cost effective. I just like the idea of lower heat + less electric bills 'cause, as you probably know, 2 1000ws and two T5 8 bulbs, RDWC pumps, DWC pumps and all that shit are expensive to keep up with. Plus there's less likely chance of FLIR with LEDs.

How much would I be looking at spending in a 4x8 grow tent for two or three good LEDs that would match or maybe underperform a little the two 1000ws? Probably closer to 1-1.5-2k a light right?

T5 8 bulb in a 5x5 grow tent, 8 DWC buckets and some soil air pots for some autos. Might upgrade to a T5 12 bulb and give this one to my boy for more coverage but the 8 bulb gets the job done.

Clone/Mother tent is an aero cloner under a T5 8 bulb (I have 4 3000k lights so I switch half of them for mixed spectrum when I flower autoflowers) and some soil 3 gallon pots for the mothers.

@taGyo honestly man. I would never run T5s again after switching to LEDs for veg. And I certainly wouldnt invest more money in T5. Bulb lifespan, replacement costs, heat and power consumption are so bloated compared to LED. If you are wanting to start outfitting yourself with an led garden. Start in veg , you won't affect your bottom line in flowering while you get going. And you can have a harvest or two come through to finance LEDs in flowering.

Why not start by switching over your veg lights? CFL is much less efficient than HPS

Recommend me some good veg lights for a 4x4 an a 5x5 grow tent. I would happily get rid of these T5s for a great LED light that would cover 8-12 plants in my 5x5 tent and veg my mother/clones/autos in my 4x4

My only problem is if I buy the cheapies I have to buy a lot and if I buy a 700w or something like that then it's like 600 dollars lol.

Seriously, I want to get in on this, I just don't want to break the bank right now as I'm closing on a house this early August and will probably be broke until September/November.

I have 3 tents a 4x4 clone/mother, 5x5 grow and 8x4 flower.

Cheap eBay panels are fine for vegging. I've got 2 300w Marshydro's that I use to maintain my mother plants, and they work great.

this statement will probably not be a popular one. But, I am having good results IN VEG with my MarsII 400. It pulls 200w at the wall and illuminates 3x3 well. 4x4 decently. It ran me $200 shipped on eBay. You could run two of them for your application and have a premade option on the cheap. But you will not see much in the way of increased performance or decreased heat as the dissipation will be the same as your T5.
Are you willing to DIY?

Cheap lights work for veg and flower, but DIY would give more light for less money. As for retail, you get what you pay for.

I think 400w of high efficiency LED in a 5x5 would do a great job for veg. It's the same wattage you use now but would be more light than the upgrade you're talking about with 12 T5. How low can you go using high efficiency in veg? Not sure... I just recently switched my clone and veg over to LED. Went from 100w CFL in clone to 60w mid-effeciency (Vero 18 v1 at nominal current). Much brighter to my eyes. I'm currently vegging in a 3x3 with a 200 watt CXB 3070 AB. I could flower in there.

Would two Mars II 400 be good in flower in a 4x4 tent?

Lol, I'm a grower, ofc I'm cool with DIY.

Of you're cool with diy, then that's what you want to do. There's no comparison. I wouldn't flower with any Mars, if I had the choice. I flower with 2 Area 51 190w's in a 4X4 and they're fantastic!
