An “excessive amount of growth” is the regulatory problem Toronto Police are dealing with after a fire uncovered a grow op.

Police say some sort of combustible started the building fire at 1020 Dupont street near Dovercourt, Saturday Morning.

Upon gaining access to fight the blaze, Fire Crews noticed 80 or so pot plants in the basement.

The grow op, measuring 22 metres by 90 metres, was set up in the building’s basement according to Toronto Fire Services.

There were no injuries, and the fire marshal is continuing the investigating.

Police are investigating after a marijuana grow-op was found by officials after a two alarm blaze broke out at an industrial building in Toronto on Saturday.

Emergency crews arrived on scene just before 10 a.m. at Dupont Street and Dovercourt Road.

The blaze started on the main level near a loading dock but was quickly knocked down by firefighters.

Police said that crews went into the basement they found the grow-op.

“They had to gain access to the basement and, in doing so, when we gained access to the basement we discovered a grow-op,” Sgt. Robert Hargan explained. “Since that time the grow-op’s deemed to be legal.”

Investigators said the person responsible for the grow-up had a license but there had been some regulatory issues with his license. The drug squad will be looking into if the amount of plants found in the grow-op complies with the owner’s license.

“He does have a license to grow marijuana at this location but there’s some regulatory problems with the license,” Hargan said.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.

So this individual should not get into any trouble? I'd really like to know the outcome of this! I mean yeah they did say it was legal!
Fire was on a loading dock on the main floor. His grow was in his basement. Hopefully they don't hassle him too much!

I'd suspect the out come would be a sick person having to start all over again in order to have meds.

The sick are a "Make Work" project for our Feds and police.
