legitimacy of strains in breeder crosses

GSC was around as early as 2010, if not earlier. By 2011, Berner already made it a brand and not long after that it won the LA HT cup and the cookie crew continued to market the fuck out of it.

Migos did nothing but make a song that white soccer moms made tiktok videos to.

Migos went crazy after smoking good weed for the first time lmfao. So they made a song with a shoutout.

Or good advertisement. Not everyone can say their strains name is mentioned in a song. Kind of like in the movies when you see them drink a Pepsi or coke even with cars ect.

Cookies was cut in 2012. By 2015 I had grown multiple cuts of it and moved on to other strains already. Both Leafly and High Times put it on their Top 10 lists for 2014. I think you were just late to the party:

I guess you’re right. I wasn’t hearing it in any hip hop songs before Migos though. How influential was Berner in the weed game? I was introduced to him as a rapper and have only heard a little of his backstory.

Wtf. Really. That prolly makes him really happy. I know him strictly for his weed market And then realized his cookies dispensary was playing his music lol. Was like wow. He’s not that bad. Haha. I’ll say it again. The backstory is a good read. If people like reading anymore

I recently done my first cookies strain from seed and i absolutely loved the taste , high and aroma . It smells like a bakery counter at the local supermarket (fresh bread ) . Some people must run stuff and write it off from a few unlucky/dud phenos. It's all in the search of finding the real representation.

Did you go to that event in Michigan in 2019? That's were found out he rapped lol.
Nah, I found out about him from a collaboration with B-Real. I've heard Berner talk about his past, but it seemed like every rapper story about how they used to move LBs around the country and whatnot. I've never heard anyone else talk about him aside from being the guy who named Cookies. He sounded kind of ignorant when talking about strains in one of the videos I saw. Respect to him I guess, it's just odd to me that he has any sort of influence on anyone at all.

GSC was in “some type of way” by Rich Homie Quan in 2013. Swerv was making seeds then already.
Fair I guess. I couldn't find seeds until like 2016 and I kept reading "cut only" like most strains back then. That was also before I could buy from American venders, so I never saw any to confirm their existence.

Once you grow more strains you’ll understand what people are sayin about the cookie.

your dates are wrong. more like 2013. The "girls scout cookies - thin mint" clones was circulating for several YEARS since 2009 or so before butt Berner and his jaw jacking crew hijacked the strain and claimed it as their creation.

What are people saying about it? Any strain gets boring if you keep running it and smoking it. It did have a clone only sorbet mixed in (bakers delight DNA) That bakery aroma and flavour profile was really nice . Been growing for 2 decades and that was up there.

Berner was a well known rapper in the sf bay area since the mid 2000's. He'd make music with other bay rappers that were also well known in the bay like the jacka and andre nickatina. Lots of people where I lived loved their music back then. His music seemed different and more like mainstream music after he signed with wiz.
When cookies started coming into the dispensaries back around 2010, literally every dispensary I walked into would say "we have the real girl scout cookies" and it would be on their top shelf for 60 an 8th. Cookies was a good strain when it came out. Really minty taste and I could see how the smell resembled a pastry, dough type of smell. I think if cookies never came along, strains wouldn't be named the way they are now. Seemed like more people around me started caring alot more about the taste of their weed too after cookies. Cookies started being used by lots of breeders too so they must have seen something in it worth passing on. The same could be said about other strains.
I don't really understand the dislike for berner I see online sometimes just because he was lucky enough to find a good pheno and was able to turn it into the brand he did. Too bad nobody took something like gdp or og or chemdawg and did the same thing.

If a strain is really good it will last the test of time no amount of hype can save it with that said we do have some that’s here to stay and cookies even with the sketchy history is for sure one of them

Gsc ,Gg4 ,Gelato ,Sherbert ,Zkittlez ,cherry pie those strains are the building blocks of the last 10 years of new strains and are deff worth the hype

wedding cake / ice / birthday.. runtz / kush mints / MAC1 are deff more than just hype and are becoming the building blocks of the next generation.. to say that it’s not improving is not true

Now I agree with the saturation of the market it will make it seem like nothing new is happening but when u step back and look at it as a whole for sure it’s making moves and with everyone tryna to make the same move first with the same gene pool it gets boring quick

The good thing Is it brings room for nostalgia and that is what keeps it fresh .. there’s been a huge resurgence of haze and hybrids with strains like bandaid haze and A5 haze being really sought after .. I just had some really good real blue dream and the disappointment on people’s faces when I said it was finished .. that taste and High is special u won’t find it in the newer hybrids not everyone wants to be stoned like a zombie
