Less humidity???

I am starting week 7 on friday of flower.... i have heard that you should reduce the humidity to around 30% last 2 weeks to make the buds more dense and to retain the resins... I have been running a constant 60% humidity for the first 6 weeks... Any thruth to this???

its not only the last 2 weeks, its for the whole flowering cycle. high humidity can cause mold and bud rot and some other bad things. a low humidity maximises resin output like you said though. it doesnt make the buds any denser in my experience.

Noooooo... They are very lush ... they love the humidity... i have lots of fans so no mold and no bud rot and i ran 60% entire time... but i was just wondering about density over last 2 weeks.. thanks

studies have shown that marijuana plants in arid conditions typically have more resin. I say this as I head out the door to get my second 50 pint dehu from home depot.

how many grows have you done so far at 60%? Just wondering because i didnt have any problems first few grows in my basement even though the humidity was in that range, i had plenty of air circulation and fans too so i figured i was for sure safe and didnt think about it much, till one day i noticed the buds smelled a little weird, opened one up and it was just sad, the insides were like mush rotting away. So keep your eyes open just in case.

Just because it worked doesn't mean it's the way to go. If you keep flowering at 60% rh you will get bud mold or powdery mildew, or both eventually. The plant produces more trichomes as a natural defense mechanism against the low humidity. Don't try to reinvent the wheel.

Bs. If you run 60+% you either one don't have but one plant and tons of light and air or two you are not seeing what is really in those buds.. You have mold and it is in those seemingly ok single harvest buds. Molds are on everything and I mean your clothes, ur shoes, the walls, the floors everywhere all the time. They use moisture to replicate and 60% is more than enough to make them go nuts especially in a living wet plants leafy fruit bud.. No two ways around it.. There is mold started in all your weed that you grew even if it just looks like trics a bit it is in there and well I want no mold in my bud even if it is very small.. You have a big grow with lots of big colas and 60% RH and you will have so much rot and mold everyone including you blind growers will see it and well no one gets away from it.. I have done it and seen it everyway and only grows with an RH under 45% don't get it .. Don't be a monkey and say 60% works because it don't and only some idiots on here will believe that.. Veg is different than buds... Gl and stop the bs..
Reading comprehension FAIL. Read what the hell I wrote again, kiddo.

Just thought he would like an opinion other than yours. I have seen you miss some advanced knowldge so now he has heard from you and someone that has not only science behind them but also experience.. People need to be taught on here from the very beggining that RH in a grow is not a maybe. No way you will not get molds in your bud if you have high RH. Most threads say it is better or it is a maybe. Well it is neither it is assured. High RH and mold if you have anything like a cola bud.... Absolutes do happen!!! People should practice tough love sometimes on here and save peoples pain and suffering instead of always trying to not offend someone.. Like the guy who was using a mantled coleman lamp inside his house to get co2.. Really have to tell people like that that hey it is a dumb ass move... And if it hurts their feelings oh well.. Might save them a whole bunch of molded bud.. Might?? WILL!!!!!
Show me where I said might. Don't be an ass.

I think we are diversing from the point. Im pretty sure your both fighting for the same point.... and 60% RH is BAD in flower. I agree, regardless of how you think that your buds love it avaholic. They do not.

I, too think 60% is too high for flowering. One of my strains is an OG that is extremely succeptable to powdery mildew. She's my "canary in my coal mine", and has developed the powdery mildew in as low as 45%. I now run between 35% and 40% in the flower room. I had to reduce the PPM of the nutes to account for increased transpiration in the dry air, but still had very lush growth. The resin production slightly increased, but fighting the mold and mildew is the real benefit. Once you've experienced the mildew, you'll never take a chance again.

If the RH is high during lights off (65%) and 40% during lights on, would that create ideal conditions for PM and mold?

I run up to 60% rh until the final too weeks then try to get it down to 30% to produce little more resin. Been doing it a few years. Never had mold.

This site really is amazing at times. Yeah there are many ways to harvest buds. If you want the greatest amount if trichomes AND eliminate your risk of mold (which you will be VERY sorry if you get it) then keep it at 40 or below. I'm at 50 till week 5 then below 40 all the way to harvest. Mold needs moisture to germinate but once it germinates it can fucking explode on you

i dont understand why your rh would be higher when the lights are off. is 65% the max high for the night or average? u might just have to vent, the first 30min of dark, or mayb a heater would do it. as far as i can figure moisture comes from the plants perspiring during the day, and from a sudden temp drop when the lights are turned off. ofcourse if the fresh air being introduced to the room is not dry that would do it..

i do think that its the dark period that really needs to have a low rh. if i dont vent or heat or whatever; to dry the air when the lights go off my rh can jump from 50 to 70 or even 80 in minutes. i seem to have between 35 and 55 rh when the lights are on and just make sure it doesn't shoot up at night.

On my first grow and the humidity has been kinda high. Buds have been fandamtastic! But I have noticed a couple with a small area deep inside of a white webby looking stuff. Any thoughts on this? Sorry no pics, but after reading more about humidity....it's comming down.

Because as air gets cooler its ability to hold water decreases, so if during lights on you have one pint of water in the air with an RH of 50% at say 80 degrees, when that temp drops to 65 or so that pint of water could max out the airs ability to hold it, thus raising the relative humidity. I don't know the formula for it, but that's the gist of it.

Yeah, that's bud mold. Good luck with that. You can cut out the affected areas, but cut at least 2" further than the spots that you see mold. Drop you humidity, reduce watering, raise your temp, keep night temps above 70 and you might finish ok. Or go buy a sulfer vaporizer, that will kill it, but still do all those things I just listed.

People, keep your humidity DOWN during flowering.
