I rock the ones powered by elbow grease haha
First I set out my towel with my 8"x8" 25 micron press screen on top of the towel.
I use the last 3 bags of my 8 bag set which are 73,45 and 25 micron bags. I use a 220 micron bag for my beater bag. I'll load up approx 2 oz of scrub buds and trim from harvest at a time. I fill up a cooler with a bag of ice from the store and fill it with about 1-1.5 gal of water and I let it sit and get real cold for about 20 minutes. While Im waiting I line my 5 gal bucket with the 25 micron bag, then the 45, then the 73. I place the 220 micron beater bag in last. Once all set up I put a layer of ice to cover the bottom of the bag in the bucket, then add the trim material, then pour the remainder of ice and water on top. Let it sit for about 2 minutes to freeze up all the trich's before you start beating it up. After a couple minutes I use 28" wooden sledge hammer handle to beat up the mix in the bucket sure to get everything mixed in well with the ice. I mash and stir for about 8-10 minutes. Once mashed up I'll let it sit for about 15 minutes to let the trichs that have frozen and broken away from the plant material to settle to the bottom and works its way through the screens in the bags. After that I pull the beater bag with all the ice and plant material out and place it off to the side.
NOW COMES THE FUN PART....
I'll take the 73 micron bag up from the bucket and spray everything in the bottom of the bag to "consolidate" all of the trichs to one area on the bag. Once I have gathered all of the trichs I place the bottom of the bag on one half of the towel and the towel wicks the water from the trichs in the bag. This makes it easier to use a spoon to scoop the "patty cake" out of the bag. Place the cakes onto the press screen that is on the towel. The towel will wick the water from the cakes and scrapings you put on it. There will be remenants that you didnt get with the spoon so you use a spray bottle to consolidate the remainder into an area again to scrape it out with the spoon. Repeat the towel method again and scrape out the last bits.
Repeat all of these steps for the last 2 bags and you will have 3 grades of beautiful solvent/chemical/byproduct free hash. Let it all sit on the screen for half a day, then move the screen from the towel to a piece of cardboard and let it dry out for a few days. Once I let it dry out for a few days, I'll break up the patties to make sure they arent retaining any moisture. At this point the first 2 grades of hash break down into grit rather easily. The last grade which is usually the most blonde....not so much. Its more gooey like a full melt.
If you arent a fan of 1st & 2nd grade hash, you can turn it into rosin with a hair straightener and some parchment paper. Super dabs of some potent rosin!!
I usually get about on average 15 grams or so of hash from 2 oz of plant material.
From those 15 grams I can get about 3-4g of rosin for about a 25% return.
This was just from the first run of the 73 micron bag and the rosin I got from the 8g cakes of bubble hash.

I also wanted to add that the beater bag with all the plant material and ice in it that you put off to the side can be run a second time and squeeze a few more grams out of it before you toss it. You dont have to do all the waiting with this round like you do on the first run.
I'm sure there are better ways, but this works great to supply me a personal stash and enough to give away to my friends & family.

I bought a Panda portable washing machine off amazon. It looks just like a bubble magic machine without the canna-company markup.

I put a layer of ice in, then my bud or trim just loose, no work bag, and then another layer of ice on top. I let this soak for a good 20-30 mins, and then do a quick 1-2 min wash.

I'll use different combinations of bags depending on what I'm looking to do. I always use a 220 and 190, this captures most of the crap. If I plan on making a full spectrum hash or rosin, I'll just use a 90, 45 and 25. Other times I'll use all 8 so I can separate the different sized heads out and sample them individually.

Anyways I'll do one quick wash and pull the bags after the first wash. Then I'll run 2 longer washes of like 5-8 mins, and run both of those through the bags before I pull them again. Then I'll run 2 more washes a 10 min and a 15 min wash and run both of those through the bags, and then pull them again.

I also put my 25 micron blotting screen on a towel, i'll use one half of the screen to put the hash on, and I'll fold the other half and the towel over top. If I'm running fresh frozen, and once I've finished all the washes and pulled all the bags, I freeze the hash and micro plane the patties over parchment covered cookie sheets.

If I'm running dried untouched whole plant (which i prefer) I will usually seive the patties over parchment, after I finish pulling the bags, between each wash. It can be a little time sensitive.

I like to do it frenchys way only I prefer dry trim and popcorn buds. I started decarboxylating it with a hot water bottle and never looked back. Back in the day I just made bubble hash and I thought it was fine but after decarboxylating and curing it the flavor completely changes. Use a heavy duty freezer bag when you press or the bag will melt and ruin your shit. Be careful with the boiling water.
I dry my bubble and chop it it up grow pics 133.jpg Press it with boiling hot water in a glass bottle for 6 and a half minutes on each side. Set it in the freezer for about 30 seconds and peel it out of the bag. If you just try to take it out of the bag after you press it then you might make a mess. grow pics 136.jpg

I just started using a paint paddle used for mixing paint with a drill. Awesome results every time. Much better than mixing by hand.

Then a long time friend and grower saw me doing it and pointed me to decarbing styles!

Doc my friend, you have it right! I too shall never look back!

 At Christmas a few years back I had all my friends and workers at a my place for my yearly party. I laid out several "Cat turds" that were in reality, realistically shaped hash "logs". I waited and waited and finally someone pointed to one and said, "I think you missed that when you cleaned up!" pointing to the "Cat turd" next to a drape by the wall. "Oh look" I exclaimed as I bent over and picked it up. "A Kitty crunchy" and took a bite off it! The look of horror on the folks faces that were standing there ,, was PRICELESS!!!

I of course explained and told all attending that I had "kitty crunchies" and some other things for everyone attending!

This points to the fact that the hash being eaten by the "hash eaters" in the book about it were eating Decarbed hash!

Nice post Doc!
