Life story and questions from the new grower.

Howdy guys, this is my first time posting on this site. I experiemented with the growing hobby a couple years back with a single plant that i kept outside during the summer. It was thriving until a hailstorm ripped my plant to shreds and dented the hell out of my car. That experience put me off of the cannabis maintainance for awhile. Now some years later I'm back at it again, except this time I'll be going for an indoors grow seeing as winter time is not the most suitable to grow marijuana. I've got a closet 4 1/2 feet by 4 1/2 feet at the base and about 8 feet tall. My main concern right now is the lighting which I am going to be using to grow. I'm only considering floro's at the moment due to their low cost and ease of use. At the moment I have single plant growing which is about 1 1/2 inches tall and several seeds in germination. The light setup I have at the moment are two 4 foot Philips tubes with the following specs: LIGHT OUTPUT - 1600 LUMENS, ENERGY USED - 40 WATTS, COLOR TEMPERATURE - 2700K. I'm thinking of buying different lights more in the 4000k range for better vegetative growth and saving my 2700k for flowering. Also, I'm going to be buying some CFL's and I dont know how many or what kinds I should get for 8 square feet of growing. What do you guys think about my situation and do you guys have any ideas to help me get a super efficient grow setup.

Eventually I'll get some pics on.

So you're looking to run 4 thousand watts in your place? or 400 watts? probably 400 from the size of the room.
I've seen amazing yields from just a few plants in SCROG set ups(screen of green) a lot of info on that here.
or dominant cola sea of green in an ebb and flow is good too.

Naw man, I've got two 40watt floro tubes which shine at the 2700k temperature range which I hear is good for flowering and not so much for vegging. No where near 400 watts haha, but at the moment I'm going soil.

I got another question. Is it better to leave the lights on all day or have a night time like 18/6?

I went to a Hydroponics store and I'm getting a 400w MH closed lighting system for $179. What do you guys think about MH and is worth it to buy a conversion HPS bulb for flowering?

MH is good for growth, the 400w doesn't cover all that much area as maybe a floro lamp equivalent to the same luminen output would, produces more heat, and is more expensive to run, but they have been used for years to great success.

The guy at the store said he could also hook me up with 10 White Widow seeds for $40. Are White Widows good for the beginner and what characteristics does the plant show?

I don't remember where i got the light, it was just lying around the house. It's probably from Wallmart though.

I've got some bag seed plant growing under it which grows very slowly (its been growing for 2 and a half weeks now and its only 1 1/2 inch tall) probably due to crappy genetics. I also have some White Widows germinating which i will put under the 4ft floros once they sprout. Hopefully those grow at a more rapid pace.
