Light Cycle

I'm doing my first grow but I read somewhere that there is no need to so 24/0 or even 16/8 during the vegetating cycle. What you can do, using a timer, is to have 12 hours on, and then "sprinkle" a few minutes of lights on during the dark cycle. This will save on electricity costs (including cooling).

Once again, this is during the vegetating cycle, NOT the flowering. Has anyone heard of tried this?

Thanks

Never heard that and how hot can it get if you use fluorescent or Cfl lighting plus it's really not that expensive to run those lights (for vegging).People make growing too complicated 24\0,20\4,18\6 light cycles work fine.Like they say if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Don't mess around with light cycles! Keep it consistent, and whatever period of darkness you give them make sure you keep it dark. You will save yourself a LOT of problems.

No never heard of it. Sounds crazy to me. Were trying to imitate and make perfect natural conditions of the sun. I have no idea where the sprinkle of light comes from. 18/6 for veg here
