Light during dark period -flowering outside-

Have a 3 foot plant growing outside in soil. Has been outside for about 3 weeks. Hairs have been sprouting out for about a week now. About once a week I like to check on the buds, but can only check during night. I use my phone for light and only hold it up to the plant for about 30 seconds. I gold the phone about 2 inches from the plant, because the phone doesn't give too much brightness. Will this light during the dark cycle affect the buds or even reverse it back to veg stage? I would like to see your opinions on this. Peace

No, it should be fine. But go buy a cheap LED head lamp that has both a regular white light and a red light. From what I been told, plants don't "see" the red light and you can check out the buds without any worries.

I got a tomato plant growing outside and every night an HPS (looks like 150 or 250w) street lamp comes on (about 20' up on a pole) and shines on the plant all night till morning (wasen't thinking when I planted it), but the tomato plant seems just fine and is flowering. I know tomato does not equal weed but they seem very similar.

No, plants do see and love red light. The only safe light is green. They sell little led green lights at the hydro store and I'm sure you can find one on line...
