Light for young plants

I just read on another site that "a young marijuana plant tends to grow faster if it is under continuous light for the first two months of its development". I thought you were to switch them to 18/6 after the first couple of weeks, not months. Which should I do?

Thanks.

sounds good, the plant shoul be 24/0 because it has no energy stored, in a couple of weeks the plants will have enough energy stored to use during the 6 hours of darkness. the branches will become more spaced apart as apposed to more compaction

While that's true, you'll get incredible stretch, fine outdoors, but not so indoors. When I grew from seed and full size plants, I let them go 18/6 for 30 days then switched to flowering and 12/12. They would soon sex...then I whacked the boys. This way they stayed under 6ft..Well except one..the Sport..that thing kept growing and growing.. If I hadn't continually topped it, it would have been in the attic..Got over a lb total, was16 around..just fit in a 4x4 corner...lovely.. I digress.. Also , what type of lights?

I have four plants ... it's a very small grow area. Any light recommendations would be appreciated. :)

Personally, I would use either a 400 or 600w hps/mh system. It all depends on your budget though...

I have a 400W HPS system for my bloom area and a 400W MH for my vegetation area. Both areas are small and less than 3x3. I'm using florescent only for my seedlings. I have a drip system for the vegetation area and ebb/flow for the bloom area. I guess my question is when do I move the plants under the MH light?

(sorry ... I'm a newbie here)

Thanks!

Ideally, you want to switch to the MH light as soon as you plan on beginning to flower. The MH light releases red/orange which is better for flowering while the HPS light releases blue which is better for vegging.
