Light ht. above seedling

Seeded jiffy pots. I would like to go direct to 12/12. I have a 400w HPS in a three foot square closet. How high above plant tops should I start with? At what rate should I lower the light?

i am not using a 400 watt but i think must be something like 1m / 3f for seedlings.ami right?

3 feet is a good starting point but you need to use the back of your hand to see how hot it is at the plant level. I would be especially careful with seedlings in a closet and a 400w HPS. Make sure its not too hot or humid in there.

yes the truth is that a 400w is very big for a closet and youre gonna have a lot of heat.good luck

i have the same thing too i have a 400 hps but if you want to jus keep the light around 1.5-2ft from the plant and have a fan blowing constantly at the light really helps to keep the temp down
