Light Problem

So it's been a couple years since this light was used but it worked fine when put away.

After wiring it all up yesterday I was a bit surprised when it didn't fire up. After taking a close look at all the connections I noticed that a wire attached to the coil had become disconnected. I peeled back some more of the adhesive which was holding another wire in place but don't really understand how they were getting a connection, it doesn't look like the wires were soldered in place. Anyway I have included a pic below, if you have any ideas please share.

If you need a better pic let me know and I'll take it out of the darkness for a better shot.

Don't cut the red wire!

Seriously though, it looks like the flat wire connector goes into the pocket like connector . There's 2 choices to put it in for 240V or 120V AC line voltage. Don't kill yourself. Make sure it's unplugged before you try connecting anything!!! Make sure to check out a schematics for a ballast too, and if you're not sure, just don't do it. Line voltage and large capacitors can easily kill you if you're not careful and/or don't know what you're doing. (I've electrocuted myself and shocked the smoke out of many devices times while drunk. You can't put the smoke back in once it comes out!!! Same goes for weed!! As they say, up in smoke!)

Yes they do look like they have a connection on the end of them, but I can assure you they were only connected to the coil with what appears to be some sort of tape, it doesn't look like they were ever soldered in place. As you can see in the coil above that one the tape is still in place and holding down a few other wires.

Where those two wire's taped together making a connection to each other possibly? Where they capped off individually like that white wire in the photo. You could bring the light to an electrical supply house and maybe they will look at, or sell you a new transformer. It's really hard to see what's up with that photo. Good luck.

Based on the image above my problem appears to be the wire running from the secondary coil to the capacitor.

The image above is very similar to mine. I'm just not sure how to reconnect the wire/wires to the the secondary capacitor.

Hopefully the images I just posted give you a better idea of the problem.

No the wires were not tied in to each other and they were not capped off.

Edit: I just found more damaged connections on the main coil. I'm just going to trash this light it's not worth the risk when I can get a brand new unit for under $200.
