yeah, depends on light size, room temps, humidity, and ventilation...a good test is put your hand right above the top of your plants, and if it's too hot for your hand, it's prob too hot for your plants! i'm currently running a 400w hps, and i keep that bitch bout 6 inches from the tops with no problems.

Eh bro I am also growing with 400 watt hps 1 week into flowering, but how do you keep the lights so close? Do you have a cool tube?

nah, no cool tube. I do have the glass lens and a fan sucking the hot air out of my box. The whole thing is under my a/c vent with a ton of fans, it never goes over 76 F.Eh bro I am also growing with 400 watt hps 1 week into flowering, but how do you keep the lights so close?
