hey guys i was just wondering if those 125W lights are worth buying just for a couple of plants? http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/CFL-Lights-95/CFL-Lamps-125/Maxibright-CFL-Lamps-1272.asp i was thinking of buying one blue for veg and red for flowering atm i've got couple of 11W cfl and one 24W cfl and i wanna change them and these seem to be a rly good choice as they're rly cheap and the spec seems good. remember im only growing 4 plants now and they're still in their 2 week and i don't know if theyl all be female as they are bag seeds. :-P

as long as they'll work in a standard socket and you rig some kind of reflector behind them , that should do the trick. I'd flower as soon as you get them.

it don't matter as im buying them with the sockets and ye i got all the walls, roof and the floor covered with reflective material :) and i know you're meant to have the blue light for veg and red for flowering but is it allright to have both at the same time? and would it make any difference? sorry might be a stupid question but im new in this :D

Good rule of thumb to remember is to use 196 watts per m2. That's a rough conversion from 60 watts per sq ft so forgive me for being American & not using the metric system. :D You can have blue & red spectrum lights at the same time but blue will promote more vegetative growth whereas red produce more flower & buds.

well the place im growing in isnt that big i mean id say aprox. two feet wide and about foot deep in.. so its not that big but big enough for the plants and also it reallly tall but i got the light adjustments so i can just lower the lights down to the bottom so i guess the two lights should be perfect :P and don't worry we don't use the metric system over here either :P cant wait to get the lights now :) might upload some pics of my amateur setup soon :D

rule i was taught: 70% blue & 30% red for veg and 30% blue 70%red for flower

yes there good and work well for growth, dunno bout flowering with cfl??? sounds like a waste to me, get a proper lamp on em for flowering and dont be a nugget... lol im in uk and they do the trik for me only use a 125 red spec ( still grow but not as fast as with blue spec, but it suits me) 4/5 weeks from seed and its 600 wtts. you wont get a lot of smoke usin cfl's i garrantee it... my pal usin one red one blue, both 125 watts, his grow a lot faster than mine. but come flowering time mine fukkin go mad. we rekkon its coz its used to th red light ?? who knows ??? mine deffo flower faster than his. sorry im waffling. yes 125's are good enuff to grow very healthy plants (conditions)

hmmm that sounds a bit like from the vids i watched on yt "ready steady grow" ones and hmm how can i manage that with two exact same 125watt lamps but just different spectrums? coz it would be 50-50% wouldnt it? any ideas?

CFLs are great for veg and flower if you are going small. I would recommend a higher number of smaller bulbs - 23, 42, or 68w. CFLs are all about how close you can get them to your plants so additional bulbs help you to place bulbs close to all parts of the plant.

I agree with Boss when it comes to spectrum: "rule i was taught: 70% blue & 30% red for veg and 30% blue 70%red for flower"

thats the problem GUD2TOKE id love to get like a 600W but i just don't have that much money to afford it for now not for another good few months so i guess i'll have to just get the cfl's and just be happy with what i get out of it. ;/

that won't make any difference without proper back reflectors you'll lose the the mojority of your usable light energy. 50-50 for flowering is fine.
