Light schedule variation

I was thinking the other day on how to mimic the natural light in nature and I thought, "What if you set timers for 3 hours HPS, 12 hours of MH, and then 3 more hours of HPS to light your plants?" Has anyone tried this? What kind of results did you get?

i thought about this before. my best guess is you would not be getting maximum yield. at most your plant would say "its like i'm outside and the sun sucks." not that the light really sucks but its not the sun.

growing house plants for 10 years now, i can say that the same type of plant can grow in any light. well almost. most plants (not lowlight loving plants) do better when they can get the most, brightest light. excluding putting them outside due to temp changes and the fact hatat there house plants. all though some do like outside.

so to sum up. yep they would grow but not to there fullest potential.

rereading that again it almost sounds like giberish, i'm drinking and enjoying a friday night on riu. ha!

how long do you leave your lights on for?..i have mine going 24/7 is that good or do you think i am wasting energy and the plants arnt going to grow any faster?

i think i see my plants growing more at night. i like the reduction in electricity and i think plants need a break.

jmo though.

do you think that by switching from 24 hours of light to 18 hours of light is going to confuse the plant maybe thinking its going to flowering mode..i mean my plants are already 5 weeks old and getting juicy. what do you think?

how long you going to veg for?

if it isn't for toomuch longer keep it the same.

if it willbe a while, do it like 2 hours a week.

i am probally going to veg i say for about another month or so. i want these bitches big before i flower. so it might be a good idea working my way down to 6 hours so i dont stunt it..good thinking..thanks man

beside the post quick reply there a Go Advanced button, click it

it will take you to the advanced post page.

below you will see a section called additional options.

there is a Manage Attachements button, click it

then click on browse, and find the picture.

click on the UPLOAD button, once it is done you can see your attachments in the advanced options area.

well the thing is i am using cfls and my plants are only on there 5 week from the time that they sprouted, but holy shit do they look great.. ill have some pics up shortly!
