Light Suggestions

I am a new grower in using a small space. I have had two somewhat successful grows, the first had ph problems, the second I had light burn. What I want to know is light suggestions. My grow space is small, its a mini fridge I converted. I have about 35 cubic feet of room and not much height. When I was researching lights I decided on LED because of their low electricity usage and heat output. What I didn't realize was that it needs 18 inches from the top of the plants to the light, this I cannot do in my small space hence the light burn on the last grow.

What I would like to know are light suggestions. Should I switch to a couple t5's? or CFL's? HPS? How many? Will they jack up the heat? Or electric bill? I would like to go as cheap as possible, but still be able to yield a good amount off of one plant. Thanks for your suggestions.

I've done a mini fridge conversion. It's how I started too. I did cfl's when I started but found I never could get great heat exchange (I was only using a couple pc fans though)

From there I went on to a 150w actual draw led which worked for flower & eventually t5's for vege. It still gets pretty warm. So I'd suggest at least a 4"duct fan to a nearby window for cool air.

With the ts pretty close, I didn't have a problem when I switched to the led.

Good luck

How small of an area? What's the actual dimensions? 35 cubic feet could be all sorts.
I would consider something really efficient like a few cobs or a quantum board.
Most cheap LEDs are not cooler than HPS so are a waste of time.
As the dude above said, good air exchange is the key to good temps. Less intense lights would help get closer without bleaching the plants. Cheap LEDs bleach plants easy.
If you tell us the foot print and height then we could offer some sort of suggestion on wattage and an idea of what lights.

I would use Bridgelux BE Series LED strips. You will fine a whole thread about them here!
