Light was off too long

I am a newbie and am sorry if this question is in the wrong place or has been asked before. I am 6 weeks into veg, from seed, and everything is going great. I was going to let them go for another 2 weeks before switching over to 12/12. I went in to check on everything and realized the light had not come on for some reason. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it came on and everything is good now. I was running them on 18/6 and the light had been on for the 18 but then was off for 13 hours instead of the usual 6 before I realized it didn't come on. My question is should I just go ahead and switch them over to 12/12 now or just run the light for 18 and then off for 6 and just switch the times they come on and go off on my timer? I want to do whatever is best and less stressful for the plants so if I have to give up 2 weeks veg time for things to come out better I am fine with that. Any help is greatly appreciated as I learned everything from reading endless posts on this forum but have never really posted anything. Again, sorry if my question has been asked or it is in the wrong place. I tried searching before making a post to try and find the answer but didn't see anything.

You will be fine, a short interruption wont cause you any problems. You will want to be mindful of your size though since your plants will likely double or triple in size after you flip to 12/12 so if you are going 8 weeks of veg you should have some pretty big girls. You should also be showing some signs of pre-flowers by now, have they shown sex yet?

HBBUM - I'm not exactly sure on the pre flowers. I have read all about them but there are so many little things that I think may be pre flowers when I look at it under the loupe but may also just be the stipules so I am not sure. I know they should stretch double or triple and I have plenty of room for that. I have an entire dedicated closet so I can raise the light as high as the ceiling goes. I am using supersoil for my first time grow as I figured that would be the simplest way to get an introduction to the process and first hand knowledge of growing and what to do and what not to do. I have read articles and watched videos literally for years and always wanted to get into making my own medicine but never actually did it until now. Thank you for your help with my problem also.

Excellent, sounds like you have a good head start. I know it can be difficult at first distinguishing the stipules from the pre-flowers. if you can get a close up you can also post a pic and people here are always willing to chime in and help.

sounds great,
yea I wouldn't worry about posting in the wrong place too much, I noticed I did a few times; there just doesn't seem to be any forum warriors here... I wonder why? Must be the plants :) Or maybe everyone's just too stoned to notice lol :bigjoint:
you will soon find growing is more addictive then the medicine itself :blsmoke:

ps if there is the possibility of males you will know it before they pump out the pollen. I was worried my first time too, /insert funny joke here.

Does this mean according to your space available It's safe for the plant to switch to flowering at any time during veg?

Kind of, once the plant has reached maturity (usually 4-5 weeks from seed) you can use this as a rule of thumb. A Sativa will generally triple in size, and Indica will generally double in size. Since nearly all plants available today are some sort of hybrid you just have to use that range.

That said you can actually go 12/12 right from seed if you like to keep the plant size small. I have never done this but there are a ton of threads of people doing 12/12 from seed. If space is a real concern you are probably better off growing from clones since they are already mature enough and they can begin flowering anytime.
