Lighting: HPS or MH

Hi guys i was just wondering if i were to be only using one light/heat source should I be getting a HPS or MH light?

I understand that for the best results a combination is best but i am on a tight budget here!

And another quick question, which gives out mostly blue light and which red light? And is blue for vegetative or budding or is red for budding?

get a HPS good for veg and excellent for flowering

HPS is the way to go if you are on a budget, best for flowers (orangish light 2700k) and works well for veg, depending on the strain it might cause slight stretching but bushmaster will help with that. i used a 1000watthps for veg on sensi star for 6weeks and it did awesome. good luck. they also have switchables that are not that much more expensive

you know you can get conversion bulbs either way you need them. you just want HID wattage for the space you have

I found one 1000 watt MH, and 2 100 watt HPS security lights (like the kind at gas stations) laying around my workshop, and was wondering if i could just use the 1000 mh for the entire grow. Im gonna be growing just a few mandala #1's (100% sativa i believe) with it. What do you guys think?

oh, are you saying that i can get an hps conversion bulb for my mh security light, abudsmoker? that would be the perfect solution
