Lighting Question

Hey everyone I have 5 WW germinating right now. It is day 3 and 3/5 have sprouted. However, nothing has risen above the surface. Anyways the lighting situation is going to be in effect tomorrow. Therefore this question is urgent.

I have (2) 120v, 60Hz, 42W lights that I bought from Home Depot. Will these be sufficient enough for the veg. stage? If not what should I buy from home depot to ensure a great vegetative stage?

All and any help would be much appreciated! Thanks everyone! :weed:

CFL? what are they rated? (kelvin)

I'm not exactly sure as they were purchased by a friend over 6 months ago and never used until now. How could I check? They do spiral down (the bulb that is). Does that help you get an idea of what they could be?

Alright they are cfls and they are 42 watts each and release 2600 lumens. Would 4 of these be sufficient for vegging 5 plants?

No...sorry to say. I have 8 42 watt cfls on TWO plants and I wish I had room for more lights. Not saying that your plants wont produce anything, but your overall yeild will be very minimal with only 4 lights. Lumens and Kelvin are different. Lumens is the measure of light coming from the bulb. I beleive that a single plant needs at least 10,000 lumens. The Kelvin rating is the "color" of light a bulb emits. 6500k is good for vegging and 2700k is good forflowering. So...like me, you will need two sets of CFL for a grow to maximize yeild. Still cheaper than a HPS bulb and ballast. Some people talk shit about CFL grows but I have had good luck with them. Good luck to you!

Well I have 4 of them now and it's only for the veg stage as I am using a 600w HPS for the flowering stage. Do you think that is suitable or should I go grab another 2 CFLs?
