I went to the store and got:

4 14 Watts
2 23 Watts
2 42 Watts

This is 186 Watts Of CFL with a total of 12000 Lumens. ALL BULBS ARE SOFT WHITE (2700K) is this going to be ok for vegg stage.

for 1 samll plant it will work. You could have spent $8 on a four foot 2 bulb shop light and gotten better coverage and results. You did get the right color cfls though right? blue spectrum not the red orange colored ones

No he got the 2700K bulbs...meant for flowering not vegging...you need 6500K...it's alright to have 1 or 2 of the 2700K in there, but you wanna concentrate on the blue end more for best results.

As for how many you have, i'd say that's ok...for 2 plants top. I grew 1 plant with 7 23W CFL's, and i was pretty happy with the growth...just too bad that it's in flowering stage and is looking male...CHOP CHOP tomorrow if i don't see hairs comin out.

Oh....I hope you didn't open the packages or anything. 2700k? for vegging? I know it works for HPS but I don't think it's the same for fluor's. You should take those back and definitely get something in the 6500k spectrum. 15 dollars will get you one 4 foot long bulb that emanates at 6500k as well as 10,000 lumens. Spectralux is awesome.

So ur saying that its not really that good for vegg stage but they will still grow right? I could keep them in there and it will still grow correct?i will mix in some daylight (6500k) in a few days i hope. When its time to flower i would then take out all the 6500k right and have only 2700K?

they'll grow...but not that well and they will be stretched. You NEED more 6500K. If your using 8 lights...6 of them should be 6500K. Look at my GALLERY...that's 1 plant grown with 5 6500K, and 2 4100K bulbs...it was a perfect balance i think.

When you go to flowering stage...you will want more of the 2700K. When i went into flowering i used 5 2700K and kept the 2 4100K...i hope you get the point...more blue in veg...more red in flower.
