i have similar dimensions as you have but lil wider. For that space I would either go with a/c'ed 600 or a/c'ed 1000 instead of going with 250W. I have seen gorgeous grows with 250W but more light the better and your yield will thank you. But of course this all depends on how many plants you want to have, how long it will be vegged, and how much yield you r looking for. As for 250W hps, they put out little heat that they dont need to a/c'ed, just have good ol' ventilation system with an intake and exhausting fan.

oh and also you wont burn down the house unless u r very retarded and very and i mean very careless. Im not a pro but I have done my research. You will be flamed with stupid questions on RIU. I think you have more research to do before you start growing. I recommand checking out others sites like icmag.com and other helpful sites like RIU.

hps do get hot,but it is very manageable. I currently have a 1000 watter and have no aircooled hood, just intake and exhaust. As for 250watt hps it puts out very little heat and it will be very easy to keep your temps down. I didnt meant that you were a noob or retarded lol I just wanted to help cuz when I first started growing I read so many threads for days and night and worried about what lighjt to get and other lil sh1ts concerning the grow, as well as how I was going to keep the temps down. I started with cfl's, but ended up using that just for vegging. 1000watt hps was the cheapest light I could find and it wasnt as extremely hot compared to what others have said. I keep my canopy about 26inches from the light. So if you are worried about heat, 250W in your case, it isn't as hot as you think and i think you should go for it. But I highly recommend at least a 400 for your area.

a 3' by 4' closet, 12 sq. ft., you'd be wasting space with a 250. unless of course you only want to use part of that space for growing. a good general rule of thumb seems to be 50w per sq. ft. of grow op. 12sq. ft.= 600w would be ideal, but maybe a lil to hot without cooling it. I would seiously at least get a 400w(which i have found cheaper than 250's) to use in that space. just my 2cents.

just think about heat and get a reflector that u can put a cooling system on, I think I might have to get me an air tube to keep my space cool, I'll have to test how hot it gets when all is ready.

alright guys thanks for your input i had a flyer from my local shop that said 250watt hps will cover a 3'x3' area with primary lighting and 5x5 suplemental. glad i didnt waste my money on the 250 so ill try for a 600 if its outa my price range ill wont go no lower then 400... 1000 yeah i might have a huge amount of growth but think i will have to spend way to much keeping it cool. thanks again for the imput... the reason i ask so much on these forums is cuase i get mixed info when doin my reasearch so again thank you... any particular nutes i should use while flowering my widow i have been looking around but also read different results for different product and strains...
