Keep all on ... Throw as much light on them .. Veg needs the most energy to setup root mass and branching structure.

Ok..but seems a waste using all l the lights only growing two plants,I was planning to put one on each end and bend them over 90* a couple times and train them like a snake under each tube lol

If they're just babies like your photo then you could turn off half the light easily and you won't see much of a difference. You wouldn't need to turn on the extra lights for about three weeks.

Another example of the OP waiting to get the answer he wanted - He *liked* this....

I agree with Buds and mjinc Turn them on and let them have it - after it throws it's next set of leaves - maybe a week....

the reason why these 2 well known members (Dr. Who & Budzbuddha)

advise you to 'Blast'.. 'em with light

is cause these flouros, no all flouros have very little penetration

as you will later find

a 3ft plant you may well trim the lower 2 ft off as the light will never reach that far

leaving you with tiny popcorn buds

this improves venting reducing any mold later

from memory these racks burn at 8x54w = 432w

ok for vegging nothing great

but for budding I'd go 2x 250w HPS

or 1x400w HPS in a push

good luck

Thanks .this time around I plan on adding different spectrum bulbs for flowering!
My first grow came out pretty good ,quality wise .. just light and fluffy buds so not much .. only a 1/2 oz from each girl

I have an 8 tube, 4ft T-12 panel I made and it uses 320W to make about 22,000 lumens if that. For 80W more using my 400W MH I'm getting 50,000+ lumens that. At a foot away the fluoros push the little light meter to 200. The MH hits almost 1500 at the same distance. I can run 2,4,6 or all 8. 2 are great for starting clones and seedlings then fire up more as they get bigger.

Makes a huge difference getting those plants bigger a lot faster. 4 tubes is fine for the small plants and that will still be wasting 95% of the light if not more. I use one 23W CFL for two little ones like that and add another one when they have a couple sets of leaves. Flouros are good for slowing down growth rates if you need to to time them better or to get more stretch out of something with real tight node spacing.

I'd try to get something a lot stronger for flowering. Makes a huge difference.

Good luck!
