Haha, thanks guys, as it happens the details are still up for debate! I think it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction. Still whatever happens, I'm gonna put the kid first.......

Ok another quick update. As tomorrow is officially 4 weeks into veg for two of my plants, I have decided to begin 12/12 with the HPS for just one plant. I'm gonna start now before it gets too tall (using the tallest) and basically use it to test the conditions of the bloom room.

As my only experience of the HPS was stretching and burning my seedlings under this light I am gonna concentrate on cooling the room and providing good air flow, then I can move the plants closer to the lamp.

Yesterday I bought an air cooler (which is a weak version of an air conditioner) but it does have an ioniser and only has to cool a small area. It also oscillates and has a timer. Today I am constructing the front door using black plastic bags and black/white plastic that I have left over. It will be light proof just like the rest of the tent. I am also gonna add 5 80-100mm pc fans. 2 will suck air into the room on the left hand side behind the air cooler intake. Another 2 will extract air from the right hand side of the room and the last will extract air from around the HPS bulb at the front of the room. All 5 will be hooked up to a 12V dc power supply that a mate is giving me. He's a techy and says it'll run up to 50 pc fans so it should work!

I'm gonna veg my lst plant untill it's bent all around the edge of the pot which I think will take around another 2-3 weeks. The other two plants including the twins are gonna be kept in veg for now as mothers for clones.

It's turning in military operation!

MORE PICS TOMORROW!

PEACE!

Hey man, I've just purchased one of these along with my 400W HPS bulb.

GroWell > Heat Shield Super Spreader

The guy in the shop said they are really popular now and very good at protecting from the heat and also helping with even light distribution. I would of prefered to get a glass hood, but this was not feasible for me this time round.

But as the heat is a big consideration for you, I thought you might be interested.

Looking forward to more pics.....Good luck man!

lol thanks mate! I've got to get a new lighting contactor too because I only got one with my original kit so I'll stick one in the shopping cart.

Great minds think alike!

Cheers!

ha...I just got one of those timer contactors myself too! Like you say....great minds :joint:

I'm setting up my flowering space this weekend with my new HPS etc. I've been using envirolites so far for veg which are doing a real nice job.

Hey Jokersmoker Those Are Some Nice Plants You Got There!!!!!what Lighting Did You Use In How Big A Space For How Many Plants?

Hey k-town. Thanks! I'm starting to impress even myself. I fyou have a look back through the thread mate there are pics of my whole grow area. I use 4 flourescent 40W tubes for my veg area and have had 4 plants in there for the last 4 weeks. You should be able to get an idea of how big the area is from the pics.

Peace!

Bloody Mail Order! Still waiting for my contactor, so I can't use the bloom room yet. I thought about just pulling the one plant out of the veg room after 12 hours and putting it in the dark to get the ball rolling, but it could be here any minute, and the plants not yet a foot tall. It's been 4 1/2 weeks in veg now so no panic really, just my impatience - It'll be worth it...........

Hey everyone,

sorry there haven't been any updates for a few days but Ive been ill. My plants are still doing well. I have two plants in the bloom room (greed got the better of me) and both have been on 12/12 for just over a week. My air cooler is doing a good job of keeping the small room cool but it is still just over 90F. The plan for 5 computer fans was a bit adventurous and my mate never sorted out the power supply for me so I just have two fans extracting the air from the top of the room by the light.

I'll post some more pics later today when Ive picked up some more batteries for he cam.........

Here are those pics, the first of my two flowering plants. They have both had some heat stress which happened while I was ill, but they're getting better. The second is of my two computer fans extracting hot air from the bloom room. They are right over the front door and inches from the bulb. You can see there are still a few holes to plug but they're bringing the temp down quite a lot.

Let me know what you think because I haven't seen any other setups even close to mine and my space is really limited, any other ideas on how to cool it even further would be really helpfull (especially cheap options!).

Happy toaking, smoking and joking!

Less than two weeks into flowering and white hairs are popping up everywhere! There was never much question about whether they were female, because they were feminised seeds, but how cool is it to see for the first time! There are a couple of pics below, although my cam isn't great for close ups. Both plants are now on full bloom nutes as well and are drinking like fish! They get about a litre every two days at the moment.

Anybody jealous?

Seeing as I had a problem with overwatering I have been particularly careful not to do it again, but now I'm a bit worried about under-watering. Because the bloom room is a little warmer than it should be the plants are evaporating more water which is causing the heat stress you can see on the leaves. As this is my first grow I am not sure of the average volume of water that a plant at this stage should be getting. I am currently giving each flowering plant 1 litre every two days, but I'm still seeing burnt crispy leaves. They are two weeks and a day into 12/12.

Anyway, you can see for yourself from the pics they are starting to bud nicely. The third pic is of my LST experiment which is still vegging.

Ta!

Just a quick update to say I've topped the tallest one. It was nearly 2 ft. Luckily the plants seem to be ok growing less than a ft away from the lamp without burning, although they are drinking a lot. The tops are green and healthy so I'm happy. Should be a good little yield experiment anyway.......

I'm gonna put up some more pics tomorrow at 3 weeks into 12/12, but Ive gotta say I'm really impressed with myself. They're looking really good and keeping cool enough I think. Every day when I get in from work I have to take a look and see how much they've come on, even in just 24 hours you can see plenty of new growth.....

I think I've found a new addiction.......
