Long stringy plants?

I just started growing for the first time, and let me tell you its like raising a child.

I was really excited in the first 3weeks how far they were coming along until now. They are tall and bean like with little leaves.

My friend showed me his plants, and well they look nothing like mine,
his are short and fat, while mine are long and skinny.



I have 2 large plant bulbs 24/7
there watered when needed
and have a fan on them


please help, what am i doing wrong?

get cfls put soil up to the first set of leafs and put the cfls close.the plant bulbs dont work

What kind of lights are you using? And at what wattage? For one thing I think I can your lights are too far away. They should be as close as possible without touching the leaves, especially in the early veg stage. Your plants are forced to stretch to the light source resulting in the long dangly stems. Are you sure its really been 5 weeks?

no joke, i started growing the beginning of october. so probley acutally 4weeks.

Dude thats hilarious at 4 weeks those plants should be much bigger, at least 6 nodes. They need help quick, get an hps or some cfl's if you have to. Put them fairly close to the light, then spend some time on these forums mainly the grow faq. do that and you'll have good plants like your buddy

i feel like i am growing a new breed of midgets. i dont know if i should start over, or keep these? i have like over 50 seeds

You could either repot them in bigger pots (worth a try) and cover as moch of that long stem as possible. But with 50 seed, i would just start over. If you are useing cfls the light can be as close as 2 inches. What watts and what kind of light you using??

Put them into proper pots and bury the stems to about 1 inch below the first set of leaves.
Then get some 3 foot fluro tubes and put them directly above the plant about 2 inches above dont fan them for a week or 2.

It is also possible that you have overwatered them and that they dont have good drainage in those cups,not to mention that you are using white cups that are renowned for being bad at making root systems as they let in to much light

what kind of lights are you using,,, watts per bulb.... a lot of great growers on this site stay with us and we'll get through this together.......

i have a lot of frinds that likes LE, but when i show my gow rom with 600MH/hps then they anderstand that marijuana growing indoor is about how srong light you have, more W more buds,

yeah my plants r at 5wks and abt 12/18in tall and roots r already growing out bottom of 8"x10" pot they have atleast 10 to 12 nodes per plant
