Low Ceiling?!?!?!?!

Hey all, Newbie here starting my first grow. I'm using a storage room in my basement.. The ceiling is only 6ft6in. High. What type of light would you recommend for such a low ceiling? Other dimensions are 5ft wide and 13ft long...

whatever you want you just modify your growing style so that you don't end up with monster plants.

that seems ok to me for height. the light depends on how much of the room you are going to use.

Thanks for both of your speedy replies.. I figured I'd use a 1k Hps for bloom in a seal off 5x10 portion( panda plastic and Mylar). And I'll veg clone and keep two moms in the other 3x5 portion.. Do able? Or should a first timer start smaller in your opinion?

very do able, personally id use 2 600 watters. have you thought about you ventalation? it will get hot in there. I would start small and learn how to utilize your area and learn how to grow

LST train your plants... That will cut down on some of the height issue and provide you with a lot more colas.

Lsting is a great method. Also you could veg to only a certain height. id say 1 foot. the pot is around a foot high. in flower the plant will grow an extra 2.5 feet high max. thats 4.5 feet. plenty room.

Well I'm very far north so I figured I could use the heat until about mid April.. I have a thermometer in there now.. Avg temp during day has been 55 farenheit.. I do have a window in that room already fitted with a dryer flange. Maybe I'll start with 1 600 instead of 2 or 1k.. Plan on using a 8tube 4ft t5 HO for veg room..

I'm gonna search for a LST thread now.. I'm not familiar with it.. Also I'm not using hydro first time.. I have a propagation tray then streight to organic soil..

very wise. i use the heat up untill around that time. As for veg room iv never used a t5 fitting. I use twin 125 cfls. When plants get bigger i swing towards a 400 MH. From what i have read t5s seem to be efficeint

i meant 3 gallon square plant pots. i grow with soil in these.

They seem efficient.. From what I've read ppl jus have their own little preferences. Some live and die by a mh veg and Hps flower. Some use t5 veg Hps flower.. Some use Hps the whole way.. And some use t5 the whole way.. I'll figure out what I like through trial and error like everyone else. Thanks for the insight all.. Any other tips or suggestions are always greatly appreciated.

yeah thats the way it goes. thats why i stated learn how to utilive some of your area to find your preferences. i started off using 400 MH. Now i sprout using cfls and they live under these for about 20 days. Then the MH comes out for the remander of ved time.

I was thinking about it but I'm not exactly that far north nor that far west if you know what I mean..

that seems to be a standard height with a lot of grow tents, not low for a grow room. go with whatever light you want. 400-1000W hid..

Thanks Kerovan.. I think I'm gonna start with a 600 switchable.. With option to add another as I learn and grow. Literally
