I am trying to lower the pH in the soil it’s right at 7 and was slightly higher this morning At 7.5 the lowest I’ve seen is 6.5
I’m using Big Rootz soil in a 5 gallon fabric pot and the water I use is aerated first and to the proper pH..
I just saw that I can mix some sphagnum peet moss into the top layer of soil and only water the plant without any nutrients for awhile ( I don’t remember at the moment how long)
Now... I have a bag of Miracle Gro sphagnum peet ... Can I use that to get the soils pH under control?

How are you measuring soil pH?

Is your plant/s showing problems?

Big roots soil

SOIL AMENDING INGREDIENTS:
Peat moss, Triple Washed Coir, Clean Sourced Compost , Worm Castings, Ligna Peat, Pumice, Seabird Guano, Langbiente, Feather Meal, Kelp Meal, Ferrous Sulfate, Green Sand, Bat Guano, Dolomite (as pH adjuster), Volcanic Ash, Fish Bone Meal, Neem Meal, Glacial Rock Dust, Rock Phosphate, Sulfate of Potash, Humic Acid, Blood Meal, Oyster Shell (as pH adjuster).

ALSO CONTAINS NON-PLANT FOOD INGREDIENTS*

  • Glomus intraradices………………………………………………0.003 propagules/gram
  • Glomus mosseae…………………………………………………..0.003 propagules/gram
  • Glomus aggregatum……………………………………………….0.003 propagules/gram
  • Glomus etunicatum……………………………………………….0.003 propagules/gram
  • Rhizopogon villosulius……………………………………………0.292 propagules/gram
  • Rhizopogon luteolus……………………………………………….0.263 propagules/gram
  • Rhizopogon amylopogon…………………………………………0.263 propagules/gram
  • Rhizopogon fulvigleba…………………………………………….0.292 propagules/gram
  • Pisolithus tinctorious……………………………………………..19.414 propagules/gram
  • Scleroderma citrinum……………………………………………0.498 propagules/gram
  • Scleroderma cepa………………………………………………….0.498 propagules/gram
*Mycorrhizae are provided to allow mycorrhizal colonization of roots.

You shouldn't even need to mess with pH and it's very hard on soil biology when you do so synthetically.

I never jack with ph in soil. If it’s good soil it’ll be fine. MG won’t help either that much I’m sure on.

Right on I check it with a meter that you push the two prongs to root level and it gives a pH and moisture level and whether it's shaded or not. I'm aware that the meter is probably inaccurate, but I'm not wanting to take a chance and list the plant

Big Rootz soil is a decent soil
.. right? The only worry I've had do far has been the pH in soil being slightly higher than the 6 to 6.5 range. I'm understanding that I want pH no higher than 6.5 .. And I'm curious to see if the wpm that I wiped off the couple leaves returned I have a fan drawing air into and out of the room now ..
