Lowryder, first time grower

I wanted something very simple, quick and user-friendly for 1st time grow. My goal is provide enough decent product for myself. After reading on the subject for awhile, I came to the conclusion that Lowryder #1 Feminized Auto would be a good selection.

My initial thoughts are that hydroponic with the "run to waste" system would work with one or two plants. I figure that one natural sunlight desk lamp Light of America 27w CFL should do the job for a light source for one plant. I can set up reflective material by using the shiny side of aluminum foil for the walls around the plant. Potting would be a red Solo plastic cup until moving to a small/medium pot. The plant will probably not get any large than 14 inches. Coir/cocopeat, a mix of perlite/vermiculite, ph UP/DOWN/and tester. I have not figured out exactly what nutrients might be best for a fast growing feminized auto like this Lowryder. Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

The set up will be in the corner of my office in an open closet. I thought keeping the ceiling fan on low would also be helpful. The office is usually kept around 70-72 on hot days via A/C, the hottest the office might get is 80-82 w/o A/C.

Any help/suggestions anyone can provide me with I would be most appreciative.

Below are the plant's specs.

Lowryder #1 Feminized Auto
Type : Indica, Ruderalis
Genetics : William’s Wonder / Northern Lights No. 2 / Mexican Ruderalis
Flowering Time : Short, Medium
Height : Short
Characteristics : Small, hardy, autoflowering strain, small yields

Lowryder #1 is aptly named for its low profile (both literally and figuratively), Lowryder #1 was developed for extreme rapid growth (life cycle is 8 weeks from seed to bud), uniquely short height, and amazingly versatile. Lowryder is stable and reliable in its properties, a product of nine generations of selective breeding, and is non-deviant and hermaphrodite-free. Lowryder claims direct descendance from superior William’s Wonder and Northern Lights #2 indica, as well as a more exotic, virtually unknown short variety believed to be descended from “Mexican Ruderalis,” an experimental cross created over 25 years ago. Passing directly from the seedling to the flowering stage, Lowryder #1 altogether does away with the vegetative growth stage, in a process called autoflowering. In other words, when planted, it sprouts, grows a couple sets of leaves, then immediately and automatically begins flowering (males at about day 17, females at day 20). As a result, it is the quickest, most compact, and most discrete plant available. Having no vegetative stage, Lowryder can’t be cloned or regenerated, for all intents and purposes. Replanting cannabis seeds is a must. But then, this plant’s unique advantages do away with any reason for cloning in the first place. It is an ideal parent strain, producing some offspring with its unique autoflowering traits. To complement its unique characteristics, Lowryder’s final appearance, taste, and high, have nothing to envy of the finer weed varieties, an excellent strain with high potency and good resin production.

I just started growing, i am on my 3rd grow. My 1st grow i used a drip system that recyled waste. It is ALOT of work. I have grew my 2nd grow with soil, and had VERY good results. Soil seems alot easier for someone who doesnt have alot of experience.

I am open for suggestions. So why is soil easier? What would you suggest in my circumstances using soil?

I really want a simple and dependable grow. I surmise once I get the basics down and gain the necessary experience needed with time then I can tweak.

if your just starting i suggest you just use soil its allot less complicated just buy some good dirt at the store along with some fertilisers that you put in the water every other watering a timer and lights your good to go you can always go bigger more precise and all that once you know more. unless you have some one that can teach you first hand. Also remember that the more light you have the bigger your plant and Budd's will be...........i actually started with auto's but you really need to watch out with were you get them from... mines did not auto flower and ended up being all male...and they also grew like 3 1/2 feet tall

I got feminized autoflower seeds from Attitude... so I am guessing they will grow true to advertising but if I see the tell-tale signs of a male I will be sure to remove...

I have read anywhere from 14'' to 24'' range for this strain...but I get your point to be ready for the unexpected...

How much light would you suggest for one or two plants?

Soil and nutrients combo favorites?

I appreciate the suggestions/help.

Cheers! :joint:

if you get two 43 watt cfl per plant you should be str8, you could also do it with a 14watt cfl by it self if you wanted to but you wont get much budd. But the more light the better and ive read that in flowering its best to double up on lights

I hear ya. It would be a waste without sufficient and correctly timed lighting.

I understood that I paid a premium for the autoflower/feminized "guarantee" and something with a short turnaround time that had a short height and did not have a strong smell while growing. I would rather pay some extra and not having to worry about additional factors at the moment. Probably in the future, I will feel similarly to you and think it is too expensive.

Mi5's are too tall and take too long to flower for my specifications at the moment.

Point me in the correct direction for the Lowryder #1 regular 10 seeds for 19 pounds and I will definitely keep that place in mind in the future. Thanks! :joint:

Picked up 4 - five gallon silver paint buckets at Lowes for 2.59 a piece.

Poke a hole in the side at the bottom and viola...

Now to get a good pan to catch the excess water underneath the buckets... any suggestions?

I picked up ph tester ph up/down and GH nute trio. I also got a manual moisture tester from Lowes for 5 bucks.

I need some sort of material(s) for seed starter/germinating (coir, rock wool, peat, plastic carrying cup, etc.)

I have decided to use a mixture of perlite and vermiculite instead of soil.

I am still looking at lighting... I want something simple, all-purpose, that is built for a small personal grow (2 or 3 plants max at a time).

I am going to grow in a closet which is painted white, it is 36 inches deep, 66 inches tall (to a built in rack), and 66 inches wide. It is open closet, so it is more like a large cubby. I have an overhead fan which will be running on the lowest setting to help strengthen plants and keep the room cooler if needed from the added lights. Have A/C in room if needed. I might put down aluminum foil if needed in closet for more light reflection.

I might used unsulfured molasses in the last stage(s), I have been looking at it. I am also looking at drying/curing methods at the moment.

Any suggestions or thoughts on the matter are always welcomed...

Danke for the site, I will check them out.
Pick n' Mix Seedbank do not ship to certain areas in the world. Seems like a solid place, but check out shipping restrictions before exploring site.

Nice job! I will not have the alternative of using any outside light. Your grow makes me feel more comfortable about my future first grow. I am waiting on my seeds at the moment.

see if you can find some ferti-lome soiless potting mix at any of the gardening centers around you. it has perlite mixed in it and a starting charge. the stuff has been amazing for me running fox farms for nutrients.
