LP Idea - Cannabis Co-op (the MEC of Cannabis)

I have an Idea for us members of the cannabis culture to create our own LP which will act like a not-for profit similar to MEC. Everybody who wants to join buys a share in the company/membership for $50 or $420 or something decided by the economics of it. Start getting capital by a crowdfunding campaign, and anyone who donates over X amount gets a starting share in the company.

The company only sells to members, and since the members are also the shareholders there are no profiteers. All the profits are re-invested back into the company to produce better product, or distributed back to the members. Members can vote to control the prices, strain production and overall operation of the co-op. It could operate with multiple branches across the country to serve local members.

If people here are really serious about getting control of the cannabis system back from the capitalists then lets do it! A co-op is inherently better for consumers and with the lower prices could actually threaten all the capitalist LPs. Prices will be lower and bud better because of the (com)passionate growers and producers.

MEC is now the #1 brand in Canada and a huge success story. We need a cannabis co-op! Who would join?

Pricing determined by the cost of production. How much it costs to produce, plus a small profit margin (10%) to re-invest in the growth of the company. If LPs can produce for $2/gram then we could sell it to consumers at $2.20/gram. Once hash production goes outdoors I will be getting the price of bubble hash down to the $10-100/kg range.

Yes many millions (5-10) to construct a current ACMPR style build. But in a rec market it could be as simple as renting a greenhouse and having proper good production practices. We don't know what the costs will be until the new legislation passes.

You would need a lot of coverage and supporters in the initial funding phase for it to work well.

If there was a large initial benefactor they could buy $5 million of shares and those would be sold to incoming members to recoup the investment but maintain the company's purpose.

Do you know how much it costs to rent a hectare of farm land? less than $1000

Do you know how much weed grows on a hectare of farmland? More than 1000kg

Do the math....as soon as growers get outdoors and weed is FARMED like it should be the LP castles of sand will collapse into a puff of creed and shwag dust and people are producing at $10/kilo

Like you said, its going to all depend on the new reg's and laws. If its possible, count me as more than interested!

Covering acres with professional grade light dep is not very expensive at all. $2-$6/sqft depending on the bells and whistles last I checked. Multiple locations makes sense to me.

Anyone know what Aurora is spending on there 74,000sqm facility?

Lp's are spending a fortune, if they have to compete with fair market from the get go they will crash and burn.

Seeing how the gov said small family owned companies were going to be able to enter the MMPR and then change the system where only people with millions of dollars could enter I can see them doing the same thing for producers with legalization especially if the LP's ramp up lobbying,

One way to get them fucked is for people who want to enter the rec market is to get together, start their own lobby and lobby that the LP's can't enter the rec market and must stay medical and can only do so with a new separate company/subsidiary.

A farm isnt a far off idea. The production would be there. Investment would be on the land(lease) and equipment.
Itd be a one harvest deal. Unless green houses were used as well to make growing longer.

You forgot labour costs. Thats a lot of man hrs, not mention the taxes land/labour/product. Plus shipping and upkeep. Typically large outdoor gardens are only good for making hash or oils.

They should have had to compete in a fair and open market from the beginning....when you get into bed with the government.............

See them panick then....hahahahahahaha.....instead of paying a lawyer, the money may be better spent lobbying....

Probably in the neighborhood of 25-30m.

Being at the airport they are going to save quite a lot for shipping. Plus more reliable power, very good security and access to a large unskilled labor market with the collapse of oil.
