I haven't done it myself but from my understanding it is extremely potent and much more powerful than shrooms. My uncle did it as a teenager and it has screwed him up forever. I don't know the circumstances surrounding when he did it but after doing some research I assume he just took way too much. He hallucinates once every blue moon and has been diagnosed as schitzophrenic. He's a typical druggie that'll do anything you give him so I think he just did way too much. I'm not saying don't do it, just don't do too much because it can fuck you up. I've known other people who've done it and never had any problems but he's my uncle and it's very dissapointing to see this happen to him knowing how smart and skilled he is.
In very rare and special circumstances, psychadelics can have undesirable or even unfortunate effects. In people who are already strongly predisposed to mental illness, there is a chance that taking any psychoactive material (including marijuana) can "unlock" certain latent and hidden mental illness. In other words, Kildragoth, your uncle was already schizophrenic. It just hadn't manifested itself yet. People with a history of psychological problems, a strong tendency toward mental illness in their family, or those that have sociopathic tendencies are strongly encouraged to stay away from psychadelics. Since for some of these people, their brains are "wired" differently, it may possibly precipitate an already existing mental illness. But it isn't cut and dry, my friends. Paradoxically, some psychoactives show the potential to TREAT mental illness. In rare cases, those with -slight- sociopathic personality disorder have developed a capacity for empathy towards others with psychadelics that wasn't there previously. But it has been documented that in rare cases, psychadelics can have these undesirable effects.

But I don't want to scare people from experimenting with psychadelics. If you're not at risk, are mentally/emotionally stable, and well informed, then it can be one of the most amazing experiences of your life, next to having children. I'm not kidding. Exploring ones own consciousness is one of the most worthwhile and rewarding things a person can do in their lifetime, and psychadelics offer an easy and unique way to do so. But you must be well-informed, well-intentioned, and stable if you are wanting to use an entheogen. People sometimes use entheogens (Greek for "God (being born) within") in a recreational manner. This is part of the reason so many people have "bad trips". They take these drugs in an unpredictable environment, around people they don't implicitly trust, and do so often without being informed about the possible effects. Although you can have "fun" with these substances on occasion, they are NOT party drugs, or even recreational drugs, really. They were never used that way until rather recently, and make no mistake, these are VERY powerful substances. Somewhere along the line, during the 1960's, people thought that fragmenting your conceptual framework, altering your perceptions, and playing with your ego (sense of "self") could be fun. If you don't have respect for these substances, then, in my opinion, you have no business doing them. And it is the primary reason these substances are so feared; people who were completely unprepared playing with something they didn't understand or respect (thus leading to a wretched experience) ruined it for the rest of us.

But, if you educate yourself, surround yourself with good, trustworthy people, and keep set and setting in mind... You can uncover more inside yourself than you ever thought existed. Entheogens can bring love and understanding into your life, if you let them. And this isn't "hippie talk". If you've never had a powerful entheogenic experience, chances are you probably don't know what I'm talking about. Entheogens CAN produce empathy for other life, understanding of the universe around you, and knowledge of "what" you are, or even what "God" is. It can also solidify bonds with other people that last a lifetime. In short, they have the potential to make someone a better person, if used correctly.

Oh, and a side note... LSD-25 is neither "weaker" nor "stronger" than psychadelic mushrooms. They're two completely different substances with different effects. Like comparing apples and oranges. The "recreational" doses that most people take of mushrooms in, despite how powerful it seems, is actually a low dose. An "entheogenic/shamanic dose" or "heroic dose" is seven grams and above. For people that are especially susceptable to psilocybin, a lower dose, such as five grams, may be sufficient. Some people are more naturally resistant to the chemical, and may require more for a similar experience. LSD is active in the microgram range, and thus, less is needed for a threshold experience. It's just a difference in active dosage.

If anyone is considering using psychadelics, read, study, and open your mind. Erowid.org is a good place to start... I strongly encourage people to look at information related to the history, philosophy, and religious contexts of psychadelic use. Even if that's not your cup of tea, that will give you another view of psychadelics that experience reports can't fill in. Entheogens, believe it or not, were a driving force behind much of the counterculture. Civil rights, women's liberation, and religious freedom might not be quite where they are today if it wasn't for the cultural awakening these substances helped fuel.

I'd say if your thinking about taking it, take it. I took it for my first time 2 days ago and i took 3 hits, It wasn't what i had expected i presupposed that it would be more like mushrooms but it wasnt, t'was very unique and i had a very good time on it. I'd suggest it to anyone thinking about trying it... just have fun with it man, simple as that

I agree with nearly everything you're saying. However, I just want to put this out there because a rounded education is important. Don't let anyone tell you you have to do drugs to experience this love and understanding. Many people find these on their own without the help of psychadelics. Look at Buddhism for just one example. Everyone has their own path to achieve "enlightenment", so don't follow someone or something just because you want the end result. Make sure it's what you want, because the result of any certain action can be polar opposites for any two people. So find your own path, absorb all the information you can, but in the end, MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS based on what you believe to be the best for you in the circumstances and situation.

It has been a long while but I've had really terrific, mind-bending trips. I've also had some mighty rough ones as well. If you decide to take some, I'd recommend the following: 1) a good 8-10 hours with no interuptions, surprises or responsiblities, 2) A very, very good friend - preferrably with experience, and 3) lots and lots of beer! (at least for me anyway).

Something to keep in mind is something I heard a long time ago:
If you're drunk and your house burns down - you'll sober up.
If you're high and your house burns down - you'll come down.
But if you're tripping and your house burns down you're still going to be tripping!

it was 1986. we knew this guy in berkeley. i think he knew the family. it was nothing but clean. no bad nothing to it. i really do miss it. i don't think i will ever see that type again though. the dead was around. oakland coliseum parking lot every 6 months. you'd never really here about it. you'd just drive by the coliseum and all the buses would start to show up. we would run home and jump on the phone. "THE DEAD ARE IN TOWN." never once went inside to see the show. couldn't make it passed the gates. the parking lot was pretty much the event. so many stories.........
WOW I WAS THERE MAN DECEMBER 15-17 '86

O.O! Still got my ticket stubs somewhere.

"find a few GOOD friends. people you can trust. someone you love is even better. start with 1 dose maybe even 1/2. be somewhere safe. somewhere you can chill for say.....8 hours. have lots of sparkly things nearby. relax. open your mind. you will never be the same. you will see and understand the world in a whole new light. ride it. it is an experience."
Well put! Props to fdd2blk
"But if you are scared of doing it because you don't know what to expect, then I would just stay away from it....you have to know you want to do it and you are going to have fun"
Well Put! props to ZekeDog

Ive tripped on acid over 100 times and had some of the best times of my life. The only times I a had a bad trip was when I took to much. Ive always taken a half or 1 or 2, one time I took 6 hits of this stuff called galaxy and it put me in another galaxy for a long time. after that I didnt trip for almost 10 years and then recently when i was in cali I partook in it again alot at low doses and had great fuckin times, but one day I went to Jerry Garcia day took some and then took some more went to a friends house later and dropped some liquid and then I started slippin to far away but luckily over came it and was fine............but the point of this ramble is START SMALL like a half hit, be happy, and definetly have some beer or booze to level ya out if needed.

DO IT!!! Its fun as long as you allow yourself to have fun. One of my good friends has done..probably...over 400 hits of acid...he loves that drug and always talks about how its not like it use to be. Have good company, it's better to be around people with drug experience who YOU TRUST, and if you end up on a bad trip..dont smoke any weed....
