LST vs non-LST questions: Stress & Yield

Hey all,

So, I'm in the planning stages of my first grow :)... I've been reading like a fiend for weeks and weeks, and wow am I taking in a lot of information. I've got just a couple questions now before I pull the trigger and start buying the stuff I need. Here goes:

1. LST vs non LST:
I only want to grow 1 plant - I'm not a heavy smoker and it's just for me... I don't really have space constraints, and I don't know whether to do a circular LST or just let my plant grow natural (maybe top it?). I'd have time to veg for between 4-6 weeks (MAYBE 7). The thing is, I don't mind growing a larger plant, but in terms of yield, would my veg time be better spent just LST-ing my plant around the perimeter of my pot (say, a 14 inch pot diameter minimum)? I'll be using a bunch of CFLs that I can raise/lower.

2. LST stress
This will be my first grow, so needless to say I have zero experience. I'm really careful and I've been reading for so long though, that I really think I'm starting off on the right foot. If I do a circular LST, does this introduce a large risk element of messing with my plant in terms of stress? I know it's called Low Stress Training for a reason, but I'm just wondering if a new grower like myself might not be suited to do this.

That's all I've got... Thanks to this forum - I've learned a ton from it. Keep it up!

In my opinion its all about the situation. A lot of people LST because they have height requirements. I do not have a height issue so I am letting them grow normally.

yeah man easy to do, easy to over do. Don't over tie one of the branches and snap it like me. but the best way of getting equally good budz instead of good bud at the top and shitty stuff down low where the light cant get to.

I highly recommend LST and Topping to produce more yield.
I'm a stealth grower so I need to get the most out of my available space.
Here's some pics of my latest grow and what is achievable with a little training.

This girl was topped at the 4th node when she was 3 weeks old.
Here she is at week 5 just before she was put into 12/12.

This is day 22 of 12/12.
As she stretches under 12/12 all the branches were tied out to produce multiple bus sights.

Day 38 at 12/12

Current Pic - Day 48

She will yield a shit load of quality smoke.

Mega bump!

So I just started my first LSt and I can tell you already I'm expecting atleast double my yield compared to my non LSt just harvested plant.
