See my grow journal (in my signature) for all information on my plants

I have been told to expect 10 grams if im lucky from my 106W CFL grow

and have been told to LST one or both of my plants to increase yeild

i just put into 12/12 after 8 weeks on 24/7 would it still work to use LST now, at the begining of 12/12??

Q1. need opinions on what yield i would get atm
Q2. would the yeild increase if i LST one of my plants now, and is it even possible

Well for starters man.. you never really want to try and LST any plant once they have been in flowering for more than two weeks. I mean if your still in your first week of flowering.. then yeah, you should be alright to go ahead and lst.

I would just leave things the way that are.. rather than taking a chance on fucking up your grow. I would chalk down this grow as a learning experience... and try the LST method on your next grow.

It's all up to you man. But remember what I just old you... I know from experience bro.

Also, before I hit 'submit'... I want to make sure you realize that with CFL lights.. using those to grow.. you won't be able to get the yield that.. lets' say I get. Why? Because I use MH/HPS lighting for all my grow needs.

I started out using CFL bulbs.. and I know that its possible to have a good yield.. and have beautiful plants using those lights.. but once I switched over to MH/HPS... well, let's just say I won't ever switch back to CFL lights. I get way more yield.. plus bigger plants and bigger buds.. using my HPS/MH lights for my growing needs.

Good luck!

peace...

Ya, I wouldn't waste my time with CFL's, get a cheap 250w HPS or 400w HPS and get a CMH bulb of equal wattage....you wil have much better results from what I have seen...and you have the LST answer above...just do it next time, if you are already flowering you are going to prolong things...

I think yield is related to alot more than just total light wattage (hell, light placement alone can make a big difference) and you should take comments like 'expect 10g' with a pinch of salt.

I recently LST'd a plant 2 weeks after light switch (5-7 days after showing sex) and the result was this:

You need to be more careful with your tying/pegging than with a vegging plant as stems are stiffer and more prone to breaking/kinking. If it kinks, leave it, it WILL recover.
It slows developement for a few days after each tie/peg.
Once it recovers bud growth returns to normal rates (3-5 days, my experience).
Plant light reaction is WAY faster than during veg (by a factor of 4-6) and if you wish to keep tying/pegging I personally see no harm. You can force flowering plants to stretch quite rapidly and if you are happy with a longer flowering time you can continue to stretch and then tie/peg if you wish.

LST *should* give you a higher yield, based on more light getting where you want it. However the basic rule is that you only get out what you put in. If a plant is going to give 10g then LST will not likely give you 20, maybe 12-14. It is more, but not huge amounts more.

As I say, unless every other part of your setup is lousy you shouldn't expect a horribly low yield, so as long as your medium, feeding routine, air flow and temps are good things will go well. Light is an important factor, but any one of those being subpar will lead to reduced results. Put your efforts into ensuring each of those are the best they can be and plants will thrive.

Thank you for coming to the CFL growing section to post that. I am sure that this will be of real help to everyone reading.

/me walks off shaking his head.

how big are your plants? they shouldn't be too small after 8 weeks. its really hard to say what you're going to yield because there are so many.....uh...........wow i cant think of the word.........uhhhhh.....damn.........hmmmm.....god damn........wow this is pathetic i really cant think of the word. there are so many things in a grow that could be effecting it your yield. if you're really that concerned about a big yield re-veg the plants for longer.

by the way what word am i looking for? this is going to fuck with me!
