Lumatek Ballast Exchange Problems

Hi I'm looking for other people in the toronto area that has been refused a New Lumatek ballast within the 1 year of purchase. This just happened to me my ballast is 9-10 months old and stopped working so I emailed the hydro store they say oh sorry we can no longer replace ballast from our old distributor. I say I bought this Ballast from you under the assumption I could walk in and get a new one if something happened within 1 year, so they expect me to contact Lumatek on my own and send it to get fixed. I don't think this is right Lumatek ballast have this warranty doesn't matter who your distributor is if you still sell them you should exchange it.

There's been problems with Lumatek ballasts recently. So much so that the distributors are not accepting them back from retail stores. I assume that the distributors are having problems getting them replaced by Lumatek. I know a store owner in S Ont that has had to tell customers to contact Lumatek directly in hopes of getting a warranty exchange.
I'm sure the store that sold it to you was under the assumption that Lumatek and their distributors would honour that warranty.
The stores cant get the warranty exchange from the manufacturer. If they replaced all the failed Lumateks themselves without compensation then you would be looking for another place to buy your nutrients, because they would be out of business.
Try Lumatek directly.

Thats kind of the story I'm getting since I have contacted Lumatek nobody knew nothing about it and am just waiting for someone that will to call, I've been back and forth with the shop all day letting them know and know there saying that they might be able to take it back that there waiting for a phone call. I was just curious to see if it was just one shop or if it was a problem all over, I don't want to name the store just in case they do me right

I hear you. I think the stores are getting put in a very difficult position here by Lumatek.

and thats kind of my point, Since they still carry the product they should honour the first year warranty witch is supposed to be a hassle free exchange

yes what some of you have noticed is that Lumatek no longer is supporting their ballast product.
some retailers can't even give their old stock away at below cost prices.
very sad !

Lumatek are crap. Have had to replace so many of them and also like KG said the grow store stopped selling them cause they were getting so many back. We've been using the black Ace ones for the last year and they are quite good. Only have had a couple issues with them but no problem swapping them for new at grow store. They also come with a ceramic fuse in them and a spare one in case the one blows in a power surge etc. They are also dim-able which I like too.

if we weren't all in such a secretive business we could file a class action law suit against Lumatex, they are legally liable to honour the warranty I'll take the shop to small claims court if I have to just to prove a point, They can't change the warranty on already sold intems without doing a recall
