is there any way you can veg and flower without trasplanting them so you dont shock them at all. put them in larger pots that you can move right from the start so you dont shock them? when i 1st started to grow i did some thing simular to you. i would start them in 1 room and when the got big enough i would tranplant them into larger pots on put them in the room with the flowering lights thinking it was the fastest way to grow. after a few years of doing that i started to put my clones which are about 6in tall that have been growing in 5" baskets right in to my large pots in the flowering rooom. now im not taking them out of the baskets, im putting the plant and basket into the large pots eliminating any shock. i only use the 400watt mh light and @200 watts of t5 lights set for 24hrs, the 2x 100 watters are not on and ac set at 84degrees. i do that for 1.5 months. durring this time i cut new clones from mom plant them in 1 inch rockwool till they root and then put them in the 5 in basket so the will be ready when i harvest others. once 1.5 months go by plants have reached @3ft. then i set timer for 12 hrs, lower ac to 65 and turn on the big boys and in 2-2.5 months done easy 4 pounds. if i veg for 2.5 i can double yield but i have to do alot of grooming. now i did not switch my ways to rush things i did cause i got lazy, i have no reason to rush any more cause i got more pot than i can smoke or sell but it ended up being faster to my suprise. thats why i made the statement that your over thinking and complicating things.

i buy clones from the clinic,so i leave em in the cup for a bit,no soil..wait for good root foundation..(has glass vase over sprayed down with water)..after solid lil roots,i either put soil in the cup for a bit or just put em straight in a pot with soil.WHY is that my clone doesnt like the 150w and 8 cfl..... if that vase isnt over it,it wilts and is drying and die ing ???????

OK, well this is a fairly old post, but someone may read it looking for answers (like I was) so I'll answer it directly instead of beating around the bush! I simply called Lukatek tech support and asked them. You don't do anything to switch between MH and HPS bulbs! Some ballasts you have to flip a switch, but not on these Lumatek ballasts. I have the 400 watt one. The guy at Lumatek said it's a "smart" ballast and automatically senses what type of bulb is in there so to answer your question directly, you don't do anything!

"Not just your standard eballast the new Dial-A-Watt Lumateks have advanced dimming capabilities and are able to power different wattage lamps on the same ballast making them the most versatile ballasts available. The 5th generation Lumatek ballasts produce the highest operating frequency of any eBallast on the market today and offer unmatched performance. Now you can dim your lamps which can be a great way to deal with heat issues in your garden and to help control your electricity bill. You can also use different wattage lamps by setting the dial on the ballast to the desired output power and putting in the proper wattage lamp. Note that both the input and output power of the ballast is changed when you select different settings."

Why choose a Lumatek Electronic ballast over a core-and-coil (magnetic) ballast?
- Fast start-up ...It reaches full brightness in under one minute; magnetic ballasts typically take about twenty minutes
- Completely silent ...you have to put your ear up to the ballast before you can detect the slightest sound
- Small compact design ...600watt ballast weighs less than 4.5 kilos compared to almost 20 kilos for magnetic ballasts.
- Produce less heat
- Cut-off circuitry ...Automatic cut off when a short is detected. For ultimate safety.
- Longer bulb life...Lumen output loss over time is dramatically less than with magnetic ballasts
- Fully interchangeable ...Lumatek ballasts can light both HPS and MH bulbs

I realize this is a old thread

was looking at this system today , Lumatek 400.
I'm just getting back into it.
my old equipment , isn't gonna cut it
the stuff consists of 1000 mh,400hps.both 10 years + in age.
I just finished a cycle of the 400hps , it worked fine ,but

thought it over kill for the limited foot print that I have
of 3ft by 5 1/2 ft, a closet .

would this be the system for me then , sell off the old stuff
and update, I'm old school in everything else.
I have no problem with buying the 3 different bulbs if I have too.

can u discuss prices here??
thanks
