What does the no chlorine lock mean, is that ph buffered? I'm wanting to pick up a bag of shock to start mixing my own solution in 2024 and can't find the old stuff I used to get.
This was all I could find at ace. Online I search non ph buffered and couldn’t really find anything. I I have 2.84L milk jugs i use. Can’t find a gallon around any more. So I mixed up 21g/X=3.785L/2.84 X=15.76. I haven’t matheed in quite some time but that should be the amount per my jug. Ppm was high like 11k. Mix 1ml with a 2.84L jug and the ppm is pretty much unnoticeable. 10ml brings me a little over 200. Any clue what I’m doing wrong. From reading here I need to be at least 200ppm but not to push it over 300. I’m dealing with some root rot and need to stay a head of it. Was hoping this would clear it up. Going to grab some h2o2 now.
So, you're buying what I posted or something else? Trying to figure out what is suitable now since the package and perhaps formula changed since I bought it years ago at walmart.
I used to get one gallon distilled water at the store and just put in a gram, don't they sell 1 gallon water jugs?
I buy the plain stuff. Not sure about the PH balanced version, good luck.
That's the exact stuff I'm looking at, I'm curious and was trying to ask the ones that know more about this stuff what the red label on the bag means when it says. "No chlorine lock" Does that make it ph buffered? The stuff I bought back in the day was just in a blue bag and was just plain chlorine.
Chlorine lock refers to an overabundance of Cyanuric Acid in your pool. Cyanuric Acid preferentially binds with your Chlorine. You have to keep that in balance. Shock with no chlorine lock means it has no Cyanuric Acid and if you look at the active ingredients you see it's simply cal hypo. I hope that helps.
Doesn’t matter. You’ll have to play with the ppm no matter what. I have the advanced. I used it 1 or 2xs the. Went with bennies so I can add carbohydrates. What I don’t understand is. I used 1g/1gallon for the stock solution. I don’t have gallons. I used 2.84L jugs. Simple math get the same ratio. Ppm around 11k. Now supposed to mix 1ml/gal of res water. I tested this. 1ml/gallon. The ppm was super low. It was more like 20mls to get it to 200. I’m not sure how much 200ppm would do I think you need to be in that 300 range. I probably had it in the res for a week. I don’t think it messed with the plants but I didn’t have my nutes locked in yet so can’t really say. Personally I never used bennies or h2o2. Botinacare nutes which were super dirty. High temp water. I’ve dealt with rot and gnats. Knock on wood using southern AG for the last 2 weeks. Both flower and veg roots exploded. Temps are hotter with the lamps up. Super white.
You can't use bennies with chlorine or h2o2. You're just adding bacteria to water, then killing it with the chlorine.
I know lol. I’m saying I switched before I could really comment what it did for my res and roots. I think the ppm was too low on the solution. I just went the Bennie route to break down the carbs I’m adding
What dosage is that? I have a post two post up trying to see if I'm on point with 56% shock at 1tsp per gal of solution... then 2ml per gal of that for the feed. What is your concentration? Does the roots stink, generally root rot stinks and slimy.
