Making Green Dragon(pics)

i don't think it's important at all what temperature it is. but i think uv light kills thc... so i'd leave it in a closet or somewhere dark till ya drink it esp if the bud wasnt too dank. i think i'm going to combine a morning glory seed and gd experiment myself at some point... would 94 proof gin be enough for green dragon?
I was thinking about making a morning glory drink, was thinking about making a wine or something. Tell me how it works for you dude.

I've made both with vodka and with bacardi 151, the taste is not so good, mixed with Dr Pepper helps. Yes you will get baked pretty good depending on your quantities I have used 1/8 for 6 shots figured 1/2 gram per shot. Take a bit to kick in but does a good job of it. I would like to water cure some of my stash and try it again see if I can reduce the chlorophyl taste.

It was mentioned that heat would help speed up the process, maybe it could help if you were going to sample right away, maybe heating up could activate it a bit faster but the alcohol does this without heat. You should also know that THC starts to break down at 95F so I am not sure you want to heat it up.

mmm... maybe someone knows a little more than I do and can help with this..

what I have found is that the longer you let it sit the more time you allow thc seep out from inside of the plant material making the tincture stronger, the only problem with this is that it also allows for the chlorophyl to seep out too and then giving a grassy or strong MJ taste. Water curing is one idea to help reduce the taste, but also I have seen that you don't really need it seep in order to get most of the tricombs and this is where you get most of the thc from anyways so you shouldn't have to do much more than wash it with the booze as long as it is a high enough alcohol content.

since i'm way to dry on bud i'm gonna try with stems and some small buds and stuff, think itll work if i use 40% rum?

IMO not worth it, your better off smoking those, but if you were going to throw em away I guess it can't hurt I just don't think you'll feel anything.

First off you typically need a bit more weed when you consume vs smoking:

Smoking --> lungs -->blood stream
Consume --> stomach --> stomach acid --> blood stream

I know it is VERY basic and not exact but you get the pic. This is your first issue, you probably just don't have enough.

Next 40 proof or %? either way it is a bit low. I'm not saying it won't work, it will, just you will need to make it seep longer. Think of the alcohol as a solvent and like most solvents the more you water it down the harder you have to scrub to clean a surface with it, right? Same idea with the tincture, the higher the alcohol content the faster and easier to extract thc, it should be at least 80+ preferably over 100 proof. Most people don't care for the strong hemp taste it will leave, this is due to the taste of the chlorophyl, the longer you let it seep the more chlorophyl seeps into the mixture along with the THC you are trying to extract. If you had a high enough % alcohol and a high % of THC you theoretically could just wash your bud or plant material with the alcohol
and get a tincture that gives you affects with a lighter taste, I haven't tried this but my research on the subject tells me it can be done.

wow thanks...

was gonna trow out the stuff anyway so it cant hurt, and gonna use like left overs from my bags, for some extra bud.

now its rum with 40% alcohol. dunno what "proof" is... guess thats not used in europe...

whats proof?, i always hear that on the internet

But oh fucking well.YEA! She gonna find that too after all this bullshit suspense, and break it. I'm sure you'll start over again. I would have made that bitch drank it after she broke it and posted the results of it on something like youtube... she would have still loved ya and probably fuck ya at the same time. She was drunk and High (duh!) Sounds to me like she wears the pants so dont even bother again.
Bro, Chill...:peace: Good luck next time man. I think I might try this soon, even though I hate alchahol seems worth it =}

Proof is double the abv%. For example 40% is 80 proof.

Like any weed extraction the experience really depends on how much you put into it. You could get too much of an effect off GD or not enough depending on how much ganj u put in.

Not trying to be a dick, but I used your information while talking to a friend and hella realized.....If THC breaks down with heat, why do we smoke it?

Heat will activate the THC that is why it works so well in baked good or in butter (since you will be using the butter on something warm most of the time or cooking with it), 215-235F is supposed to be the best temp for vaporizing as this turns the THC into vapor without burning the rest of the plant material that could potentially be harmful to your lungs when smoked. Do a little searching around on the subject you will find a much more accurate description of all of this than I can explain. I think I read on this forum 95F a while back, it was off a little per this statement:

Only 5.8% of the drug degraded in the ascorbic acid-containing patch as compared to the control (31.6%) after 2 months of storage at 40°C (104F) ... (Wiley InterScience :: Session Cookies)

Here is another link that says:

The area where the drying is done should be dark. Light and high temperatures (higher than about 80 degrees) will cause THC to break down into less desirable chemicals, this will lower the potency of the finished product. Manicuring, Drying, And Curing Marijuana

here is another one:

Chapter 6 Solid Dispersions based on inulin for the stabilization and formulation of ∆ -tetrahydrocannabinol

here are a couple of quotes from it:

'During smoking, severe degradation at extremely high temperatures, resultsin a bioavailability of only 15-20% [23, 153]. These rather primitive ways of extraction result in variable amounts of the active compounds released from the glands of Cannabis Sativa, causing substantial variations in the amount ofadministered cannabinoids.'

'Furthermore an endothermic peak with an onset at 200°C is found which could be ascribed to evaporation.'

There is a bunch more on this if you run a google, I guess thc is in a constant degradation process even at very low temps. Keeping it at LOWER temps will help slow this process down, when you cook with THC you want the temps to be as low as possible at 80C (176F) the degradation starts to increase rapidly.

Hope this helps you with your next conversation with your friend. :mrgreen:

where there is a will...

BTW... Cancer reasearchers have injected THC directly into the brain to help reduce melinoma sizes, so for sure there is a way.

I have tried something similar. A friend of mine let a bud sit in a tea bag inside of a shot glass filled with votka. It took about two hours for it to be entirely emerald green then I drank it. I really think that was the best shot of votka I ever had. It did not make me sick at all and had the pleasant flavor of fresh flower.
