male or female or both? question

This plant has been through hell and back, and finally bounced back, I just knew it was going to die, but it didn't. My question is, this morning I found female hairs on it, but these ball like things are making me nervous (the were found closer to the stem, and the flowers closer to the top)

opinions?

hard to say- I do see the calyx with the pistols but on the bottom pic, can alomst make out the 5 fingers/petals of a male flower.

Can definitely see female hairs. Did it just start recently showing? I can't really see the little balls you're talking about but I'm pretty sure I see what you're talking about. Those are more then likely the sacks where the white hair comes out. Wait a few more days and you'll have a 100% confirmation on it :weed: Good luck!

Edit: Yah I just read the post above me, and I see what he's talking about. Still too hard to tell in my opinion... just have to wait a few more days to confirm it.

Take another picture of what you think is male flowers from straight on so we can see it better.

Female so far.. don't sweat what you call balls yet... male balls are grape like (clusters).. new growth pods are more a teardrop shape, and not clustered.... wait a bit more, but I say female.... Luck.

that's the same plant now! this is what she looked like before, this is what she looks like now (bottom right plant)

I'll take pics when I get home of the suspected ball thing!

a myth?: sorry not petals, tepals:
The first sign of flowering in Cannabis is the appearance of undifferentiated flower primordia along the main stem at the nodes (intersections) of the petiole, behind the stipule (leaf spur). In the prefloral phase, the sexes of Cannabis are indistinguishable except for general trends in shape.
When the primordia first appear they are undifferentiated sexually, but soon the males can be identified by their curved claw shape, soon followed by the differentiation of round pointed flower buds having five radial segments. The females are recognized by the enlargement of a symmetrical tubular calyx (floral sheath). They are easier to recognize at a young age than male primordia. The first female calyxes tend to lack paired pistils (pollen-catching appendages) though initial male flowers often mature and shed viable pollen. In some individuals, especially hybrids, small non-flowering limbs will form at the nodes and are often confused with male primordia.

the damaged stipule is next to the preflower. best bet is to pluck it and disect it. if there are 5 light green/yellow banana fingers than you have a hermie.
but the bigger issue is-WTF happened to ur plants? Im a little confused by the pics but you say that damaged looking plant is the after?

I had Miracle-gro perlite and it nute burned the hell out of the poor thing, it finally bounced back and looks 100% normal (yes, that burned pic and the canopy plant pic (the bottom right plant) is the same plant!) never give up on any plant!!! this one bounced back soooo well!

I think I'll let it do its thing for a few more days and we'll see if it is male/female...

thanks!

good luck bro. it could be a female plant that got stressed from the high nute concentration and kicked out a male flower. time will tell.

WINKDOGG, your plant is a male. Sorry bro! SMOKEUPJOHNNY, yours is a female. The two top pics clearly show pistils emerging from the calyx's. The bottom pic has something growing at that node, but it doesn't look like a male pre-flower. Maybe some screwed up leaf growth or something. That's how I see it.

Have to agree with Antman, Wink you got a boy. Sorry

I can not tell on SmokeupJohnny's plant but I am sure Ant is correct. Grats on the girl.

Ok, now that looks like a male flower, I suggest plucking it off and just keeping an eye on your girl.
