Male?

I am not sure where you are getting your facts...

In soil, the perfect pH is 6.3 - 6.8. Period.

Why would he want to raise the ph? Because his run off was at like 5.2, 5.7 something like that. Its too acidic! Anything below 6 can actually stress a plant. Stress can induce males.

His soil pH is NOT 7.0 by now, watering with a acidic solution. Furthermore, as I mentioned, lime adds a great source of calcium and magnesium, and it also helps PREVENT ph fluctuation and the buildup of harmful salts that may lead to nutrient lockout.

Everything I am saying is widely known and available in many respected threads and pages in the Grow FAQ's.
I am going upon my personal experience. Grow FAQ's are good, I have read many.I know what lime does, thanks. To be honest different strains like it different PH levels. Nothing is as good as actual grows under your belt. Trust me I am almost 30 and have been in the game for a 10 years now. No disrespect, but I know what I am doing. You can read all you want and if you listen to everbody your shit will die...lol. You wanna see some of my grows holla at me in PM and I will link you to some of my grows. What works 4 me may not work for you, but it works for me.

We have been cutting(removing with scissors) the male's pods so that it wouldn't pollinate our female. Does that work? Its just such a nice looking plant. It's such a shame to destroy it.
i know what you mean im on my first grow myself and im prolly gonna break down in tears when i gotta kill the males

Why did you ask for an explaination? Just to tell me that there are different ways to do it?

Why make your first post then?

I stand by what I said. For a noob is likely to, and has already done, more than less, lime is a great option.

Kill it man. Just not smart not to IMO.

Get fems under your belt, then try and lasso pollen :-)

Now you actin like a fuckin tool. Yoiu dont grow marijuana at a PH of 7 you fucking moron. Your leaves will yellow and fall off to soon. I guarentee that a plant at 7 will not stay lush green or veg/flower as well as a plant in the 5.5-6.2 PH range. Its all about how good you want your plant to be. My plants stay green until the last two -three weeks of flowering and they begin to drop leaves due to the plant using up the energy in them in the last 2-3 weeks of flowering...Tool

Dude you are totally out of line.

When did I ever say to grow at a ph of seven? I am ending this conversation because you are showing yourself to be unable to have a respectful debate. You are out of complience with RIU protocol, so knock off your hostility.

I am sorry you feel so strongly. Don't continue to address me in such a manner. Period. Have some respect. I never insulted you. Your new on RIU, so act like it

Yeah, he's new here, and you have tactfully corrected him. Thanks for that. :bigjoint:

Yes, the optimum pH for soil is the high 6's. The optimum pH for hydro is the high 5's.

We've seen many 20-somethings come along with oh-so-many years of growing experience, and when they spout something wrong and are corrected by the community, they go into a chest-pounding rant. What we don't see is the knowledgeable responders giving them a second glance.

And that's the magic of Rollitup.

OK I'm all nervous about my lil ones. How soon can one flower their ladies in waiting?
Well there are many schools of thought on when to flower...

Some veg for months, making massive bushes that have huge yields. But, they get a crop less often than, say, someone who veged for a few weeks or a month and then flowered.

Remind me, how long have you been vegging?

How tall are the plants?

What kind of yield are you looking for?

What lights/nutes are you using?

I vegged for about 3 weeks. The plants will continue to grow vertically once you switch to 12/12. This is commonly refered to as stretching. After 3 or so weeks of this in 12/12, they will normally cease vertical growth. This varies based on every factor imanginable though, from strain, to lights and nutes, to soil pH, room temp and humidity, etc etc.

As a general rule, the average strain can grow by 1.5-3 times the size it was when switched to 12/12. So, often times determining when you switch is dictated by how tall you want your plants to get, given whatever space limitations your grow area may present. What kind of space are you working with?

Well get back to me and I will try and help you. Answering all these questions, while taking a bit of your time, will beneficial. Not only will you get more helpful feedback, but I will feel comfotable spending time helping you knowing you are takin it seriously brother!

However, I just realized this is some hijacking so to speak. So unless bill doesn't care, PM me back this info and I will help you.

Hey we just noticed that one of the leaves on our female is turning brown just on like the very edge of it but its only a small bit, anything to worry about? I could put some more pics of it up.

If you only looked at the first set of pictures then we already know but we are working on fixing that. I was just wondering if that could be caused by anything else like light or nuts.

I would guess it's the soil most likely, unfortunately. :?

Have you any way of testing the soil's pH and reporting it back? Are you still using hygrozyme?

Understand, hygrozyme is great. But it's best used as follows, according to their website, put in my own words for brevity and clarity:

1. Normally, you would alternate between nutes/water with soil. For instance, say you just fed the plant with nutes. When the soil DRYS OUT to the point where it's time for a watering, then feed WITH ONLY WATER AND HYGROZYME.

2. Next time you water, use NUTES, NO HYGROZYME.

It is meant to clean the roots, so to speak. You don't need to use it as you have been to maximize the results. I would say that you should't but hygrozyme doesn't say that. I assume because they want to sell the product. However, it clearly says to use it when you're only feeding with water to cleanse and help the roots.

Second, if your run off is still that low (5.something) THAT could be causing nute lockout, too much of one and not enough of other, etc etc. All kinds of shit can hit the fan when the ph is that low. You need to get pH up and some lime if your soil pH is below 6. 6 is still hotter than I would run, but it would be better than what it is now, I am imagining.

Pics are always helpful  Keep up the good work.

Well thanks for all the info man, I'll put some pics up here soon. And whats the hygrozyme your talking about? Right now we've just been putting some fertilizer in our soil called Schultz Flower and Vegetetable plant food and its 17-17-17 so we thought it'd be good enough, but thats all we've used. And we water it once a day so it doesnt get too dried out because our grow box gets pretty hot during the day

Sorry, wrong thread on the hygrozyme.

Schultz is good for a beginner. However, you may kill your plant if you over water it. If it doesn't die, the yield and potency WILL be reduced.

Before you water next, pick a safe spot, close to the side of the container. This is so you don't damage the roots. Stick you index finger into the soil up to the middle knuckle. Is the soil dry? THEN DONT WATER IT. Let the soil dry out. MJ like to be flooded, then fasted, if that makes sense. OVERWATERING WILL KILL YOUR PLANTS AND IS THE EASIEST AND MOST COMMON MISTAKE PEOPLE MAKE.

Also, letting your plants dry out will promote root growth. Picture a thirsty plant reaching out under the soil, searching for the water. This will let your plant uptake nutrients/water more efficently and provide greater results.

If the plant looks stressed or is drooping and it has enough water in the soil, then your temp/humidity is off and needs attention.

If it is too hot and dry your buds WILL NOT BE DENSE. They will be light and fluffy. Your room shouldnt get over 79 degrees F, ideally. Over 85 degrees F, the plant's ability to take in C02 is SEVERELY reduced.

What is the temp? Humidity? What is the pH of the soil?

they are this big, do you think its time to switch to the 5 gal pot?

Dont worry I'm not growing them next to my blender, its just for scale.

I have a grow box. Just for 2

Its not time to transplant into a 5 gal pot.

You dont go from a 16OZ cup right to a 5 gal pot.

Go for a 1 gal pot in a week, then wait a few weeks and transplant again.

I transplant 3 times per cycle and get zero shock. Look up transplanting in the grow faqs. A paltry response to my post...

Good luck.
