Manure as fertilizer question?

Hey,

I have 10 KC-45 seeds planted outside in a typical temperate forest peat moss along the floor little plants scattered about the trees, rotting logs etc.. I put them in a clearing made by a fallen tree it will not get all day sunlight although i'm sure a good 4-5 hours direct sunlight while the sun is high in the sky. The strain says the plant thrives in sunless conditions and cloudy days which I figure will be fine for where it is. Anyways, I went to check up on them today after planting them in the ground 4 days ago, they were 2 days sprouted then. They are now about one week old with the first set of single leaves out and the second set visibly poking out of the plant. Though, they were looking a little light green and the leaves were making a " V " SHAPE pointing toward the sky. I had brought along with me a Zip-Loc bag of composted cow manure (bought at Lowes /10kg bag) and sprinkled about a handful around the base of each sprout. Do you think this was a wise decision? Do you think it might burn the sprouts? I would have mixed it into the soil but the forest floor is hard to work as it is full of roots. I tilled a bowl sized area in the soil for each sprout I figured once they used up that space they will be old enough to spread there roots about the same way the native plants do. It would be very hard to have tilled the whole plot. I was reading online about manure and have been reading conflicting articles some say to mix it in or it can burn your plant others say sprinkle it on top and let the rain and worms work it into the root zone. Does anyone one have experience with manure and have you ever just sprinkled some along the base of the plants? How did it turn out if you did?

I use composted manure but always add it to the soil about a month before I transplant. I sometimes top dress with compost/composted manure but only when they're old enough to handle it.

I've used worm compost, but I mix it with the soil before planting. Great stuff once you get the hang of it.
