I had alcohol way before weed. I cant remember where I heard this analogy but I think it fits with the gateway theory:
"Most motorbike riders started out on bicycles, but that does not mean all bicycle riders will ride motorbikes."

yep if anything leads to other drugs its gotta be alcohol as if thats not bad enough
but if weed was a gateway drug how come i'm still smoking weed and not popping pills or smoking crack? i really don't think there's a gateway its just that some people are always looking for a more powerful high. hell i started in the 70's and still have no desire to try anything more potent or dangerous.

ive never tried alcohol, i mean being drunk. and i smoke weed. soooo weed has not led me even to alcohol, and im not interested in trying it either, so to conclude i dont think ganjas a gateway drug- at least not for me.
I just love that "It makes me beat up my friend sometimes" LOL U can hardly see my eyes are watering so much.....I'm a girl and me and my friend have gotten into some hallicious arguements when we were both drunk...Never on weed! For sure, plus you could get in a hellava wreck on vo and 7..EEK!

my first drug was alcohol and then when i was drunk one night i smoked weed and loved it to death. that was 3 years ago and the only drugs i do are alcohol on the weekend and weed whenever i feel like it, which is a lot of the time.

You've all heard the stupid DARE line... "Marijuana is a gateway drug that leads to bigger and harder drugs." Bullshit.
I believe Alcohol to be the so called gateway drug. I remember being a kid and sneaking sips out the liquor cabinet or fridge. I'm pretty sure if you think back to your first time getting messed up, alcohol was probably your first "DRUG" you used.
DARE says "people who smoke marijuana are 50 times more likely to use harder drugs" or something like that. Of course we are...You tell us our whole life that marijuana is this deadly, addictive plant.... then we find out it's the fucking eutopia.... of course we are gonna try some of the other stuff you said was supposed to be deadly and bad... you lied to us all this time, why the fuck should I believe you now.
If the govt does consider it a gateway drug, it's cause their lies and deception about marijuana made it a gateway drug. If your gonna lie to us about that, how do we know your telling the truth about the other drugs? We don't! So that's half the reason we need to experiment cause the govt doesn't want to give us a straight answer

Marijuana isn't a gateway drug, I believe it's the people we're exposed to and the conversations we have, and the implied lifestyles we witness and want to model for ourselves.
and some candy should be expected to be too sweet.
So, I believe it's the people, not the plant, Cannabis. Example, (and 'nuff said): "Try talking drugs to a clerk at Liquor Barn."
Funny Example #2: "it was, you know, that chick's coked-up Mom and her biker boyfriend, the guy who taught me what a "spoon" is, as he sold me a quarter of one, that was more of a gateway than the doobie I smoked with them...again, I think that makes the point really well, hahaha, I wanted a piece of THAT lifestyle. (Odd, it got lonelier and lonelier after that, should have stuck with weed, met nice people when i stuck to weed!)
Most adults in California who blaze show a GREAT DISDAIN for even mention of any other drug.
There's a small percentage of us who just have a pre-disposition, and the right kind of education I believe can mitigate that. And that's where the money should be spent. Not on Private Prisons full of black men (man, the survivor's guilt I carry about that!)
We need to repeal legislation around drug law (but how?), and shift to a more "health issue" oriented stance as a society.
Take the money away from gangs, even if it means legalizing everything 100%
take it back to scratch, move immediately to getting people rehabilitated and integrated into society, not in prisons.
do we want to keep legislating to the lowest common denominator or just treat those who can't control it?
I think the US should become the worlds largest buyer of coca, directly from the south american farmers, and cut the middle-men out. sure we'd have a rise in kidnappings, but it would take the money out of our kid's hands so they could concentrate on what it takes to make it, through school or other learning. dots we dont connect when we're involved with the illegal.
So part of the problem is that people jump to criminal instead of, "health issue," I think for the same reason we go to the gun. Part of being American, I hope we can change to being more compassionate, and thinking, if that was a family member i'd want them to get treatment before prison (and we should really be made to understand how much we spend on each person in jail, and how it's effecting the other criminal cases, as opposed to keeping them part of the tax base).

I can see where people are coming from - the governments build up weed to be far more dangerous than it really is, so after people have tried it they are more likely to try other more harmful and potentially addictive/sometimes life-wrecking substances simply because weed isn't as bad as they've been told so they wanna see how much STRONGER the effects are of other substances, and if they compare to "the first time I got blasted off weed" effect which (after all) is the high they've been chasing and not managed to repeat in quite the same way...
Sod that though - a little weed occaisionally SHOULDN'T fuck your life up...whereas the other stuff, well...some of its supposed to be "try it once and you're hooked" kind of stuff, and only idiots even CONTEMPLATE trying some of them IMHO.

i have smoked bud, serenity ive huffed gas, air duster (got addicted to it for a little bit. clean now) and nitrous, ive got wasted did methadon, loratab, perk 30s, andoc 20. ive done lsd also. not because marijuana is a gateway drug. it was my first drug at 9 years old but the only rason i did other things is because i like being high but i can honestly say ill never huff or do pills again. all i do is smoke bud. i rarely drink or smoke serenity i would like to try dmt, shrooms, and salvia.
