In Cali you could be a Bud tender. Thats the guy or girl that sits behind the counter at the Medical Meds stores and tells you what is what. You gotta know what your selling so they have always smoked all the shit in the case usually...

If your in Cali tho might as well become a cultivator, fuck it...

The odds of you finding a job growing are going to be pretty slim as there aren't official 'greenhouses' that are openly taking applications...

Your best bet is to register as a primary caregiver, and grow up to the maximum allowance that your designations afford you... at that point you will also have to be distributing a portion of the product to your patients... Which is a totally new, and difficult task inherited by the fact that you need to get paid for the plants you produce, as they consume water, nutrients, electricity, time, space, and environment.

In other words, you're not going to just be able to find a job growing cannabis... You can create your own job in the industry, but demonstrated knowledge and ability always gets you much further than the naive excitement and misunderstanding of all that the job entails. I would recommend that if you truly see yourself breaking ground in this, you should first and foremost read up on EVERYTHING you can, and learn to differentiate the practice from the what works for you... Secondly, you need to experiment, and get good at what you plan to do. Get to the point where you know what you're doing, and you know the answers when problems come up, and you know the resolution before problems happen.

Don't just do the job, be the best at it...

Good luck bud.

id say go to a bookstore, or even order a couple of books from online about growing because for the most part they are credible, not filled with tons and tons of misinformation leading you in the wrong direction... but i have definitely learned most from experience. this site also has tons of great info as i'm sure you've figured out, just need to be able to differentiate between whats good info and when its just someone talking outta there ass

If you want to be a Cannabis professional, you should look at Oaksterdam University in Oakland. If MJ expands, you will be ahead of the curve. You can also become a budtender, where you would learn from the mgmt and vendors. It's a great position to have if you don't know all the strains and don't have the ability to define them. Move to a medical state and apply. BT's get a great education on the job. You'll be counting bud a lot, but you'll see how it works from inside. And you can be a BT and a cultivator. There's no reason to separate the two.

My best advice is to decide to do this after a few days of not smoking. If you are sober for a few days, and you still want to move bud, then I'd say buy yourself a bus ticket to the nearest club.
