What is it that you always need or want but can never find at the hydro store?
What could a store owner do to set himself apart from the crowd? What if any are some of the items you wish they sold but don't?

Reason I ask is I am considering opening a hydro store. Since everyone on this forum shops at hydro stores or has at least been to one, I know I can get the valuable information I need.

Thank you all in advance. :bigjoint:

Employ green card holders so that we can talk MARIJUANA and not TOMATOES

Have instore displays, but also have cheap DIY materials for making boxes for those on the cheapest of budgets. You will attract a niche market. Especially if you sell parts and a guide.

All organic nutes. The market has spoken and most people are turning to organics. Encourage the sale of organic nutes.

These are great ideas.
Unfortunately most of the distributors as I am sure you know frown upon our use of their products. But we all know that without people like youreslf they would be out of business. I am a licensed patient myself so you can bet I will be doing what I can to help those in need. I am also a licensed plumber by trade and have dreamt up numerous diy kits.

Give me some ideas on some of the diy items that would be essential. Competing with the national home store chains for pricing on some of these materials can be tough since they have bulk buying power on a national level. I will consider every option. Once again thanks alot.

What makes the perfect hydro store? In my opinion, it's the knowledgeable staff that can not just sell stuff, but help you design your room and explain how to install / build / set up the items they are selling you. Another thing I really like at my favorite hydro store here in Orange County, Ca. is that they have no hassle warranties on all major purchases such as lighting systems. You won't find any bargain bin cheap crap there, which means you pay a little more than you would online, but when you buy something from them they allow you to bring it back for 3 years and exchange it NO QUESTIONS ASKED. THAT is my favorite feature.

OCHYDRO rocks.

Return policy that allows for replacement of major items. That is a good idea. Thanks for the input. Led lights are starting to look real attractive with the savings in energy bills. But the price of some of them are downright expensive. Stealth Led lights are leading the way, there are some informative videos on youtube from Urbangrower with Erik Biksa from Advanced Nutrients. Urbangrower or Remo is going to run a test using the LED light from Stealth and post the results on his Youtube channel. Hopefully in time the competition will force prices down to a reasonable level. Problem now is this technology has been labeled as being "Green" so we are going to get taxed for it.
Thanks again for all of the input. Keep it coming.:bigjoint:
