If you run 4 per 240 driver @ 40w per square foot, you will save 1200 watts and possibly produce similar # as 50w per square foot.
Right, the HLG-240-1050 would run 6 cobs at almost 40w per cob. Less power, more cobs. I think overall it's much cheaper upfront costs to buy less cobs and more power. 60 cobs vs 100 cobs is $1000usd. Powering 60@80w or 100@40w will cost about the same.

At 40 watts per square foot, not per COB.
Yeah I understood what you meant. I just broke it down even further using the 1050ma driver x 6 cobs. He could use the 1400ma as you suggested and get just over 50w per cob for 4 cobs on the HLG-240 but he could also run 3 cobs at the same power using a cheaper HLG-120-1400.

That's alot of drivers.
1 - HLG-240-2100 would give 80w per cob for 3 cobs. 240w for every 6sq feet = 40w per sqft
1 - HLG-120-1400 would give 50w per cob for 3 cobs. 150w for every 6sq feet = 25w per sqft

interesting... So how would I obtain atleast 50 watts or more per sqr foot building fixtures that cover a 2x3?

50w per sqft is a max. Lots of people on here doing 25w up to 50w per sqft. If you had just 3 cobs in a 2x3 area you would need to run them at 50w per cob just to get 25w per sqft coverage. 80w per cob with the 240-2100 would give you 40w per sqft.

what if I used this driver? http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2141835_-1 Could I drive them 100 watts per cob? Or would that lower the efficiency to lumens by too much? or should I just run this one http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2189281_-1 at 60W per cob. Forgive me if im sounding like a newb.. lol Im just really pondering all angles here..

At 1.3a it would drive the Vero 29 about 45watts. To get 100w per cob you need something running around 2.5a.
2.8a would get a Vero 29 to 109w as per the data sheet.

I thought you were in Canada? If you are, why not order from Digikey for cobs and Mouser.ca for drivers?

I am in Canada. But Mouser is always out of stock. up to 11 weeks before they get new stock for most of the good drivers.

A: IP65 rated. Constant current level can be adjusted through internal potentiometer.
B : IP67 rated. Constant current level adjustable through output cable with 1~10Vdc or 10V PWM signal or resistance

I can't find any drivers that are out of stock. None that we would use for our lights anyway. Everybody has times where something is out of stock. There's even free shipping on orders over $100.

Im beginning to think I should split the room up into 12 - 2x4 sections and have 4 - 3x4 sections in the 15x8 space. This way I can build 200W lights for the 2x4 sections and 150W lights for the 3x4. Equaling 16 fixtures in total. Seems better. I won't have to build as many fixtures.

There is only limited supply. I need at least 12 power supplies at 200W. Also, how am I going to be able to drive 4 cpu fans with a 200W driver if Im driving the cobs at 50W each?

Hi,
I don't understand something, for exemple let's start with HLG-240H-C1050B (238V output) and 6x COB CXB3590 @36V.
In series, we got 238v / 6Cob = 39.66V in each COB ? It's not dangerous ?

238v is the max the driver can hold. 6 cxb3590 cobs running at 1050ma will use less than 36v per cob.
I'm sorry i miss something : a driver is like a battery : 238V in the circuit ? or it deliver only the COB needed ? For working, the COB needs 36V of constant current ?
